"Waiting for the End of the World:" Elvis Costello's 'My Aim Is True' on its 49th Anniversary - Lawyers, Guns & Money
Hello friends! Elizabeth here. Just wanted to let you know, in case you missed it, that I reviewed the 49th Anniversary box set reissue of Elvis Costello’s 1977 masterpiece My Aim Is True over at Pitchfork. Have a taste: My Aim Is True is a doozy—song after tuneful song of uniquely catchy complaint-rock, spat out […]

The image is of a four panel comic. The title reads "Poltergeist".
In the first panel we see a woman with a worried expression on her face. She says, "stuff keeps moving around my house."
In the second panel the same woman says "I'm terrified. I can't sleep."
In the third panel we see a ghost holding a candle and a pillow that reads "live laugh love". The ghost is zooming through the house.
In the fourth panel we see the same ghost hanging up a frame and thinking, "home decor is my passion".

The image is of a four panel comic.
In the first panel we see a dragon sitting on a pile of treasure. A speech bubble pointing off panel reads, “Dragon, why do you have all this treasure?”
In the second panel we zoom in on the dragons face. He simply says “shiny”.
In the third panel we pan to the left and see that there is a crow standing next to the dragon on the treasure.
In the fourth panel we zoom in on the crows face. He says “hell yeah”.

Third episodes are now the most experimental place on TV
It used to be that shows saved their fireworks for their penultimate episodes. But the way TV is made and watched today necessitates some earlier flash.

I'll add some nuance here — most local pushback against data centers is actually quite fluent, and not grounded in the more wild-eyed rhetoric you see on social media. Very often, the core premise is a simple, correct one: you can't trust what Big Tech says in its promises to a local community.
