Trump set to sign executive order aimed at reducing number of recommended childhood vaccines. Abject stupidity, but that's what you get when you vote for anti-science politicians. Children are going to suffer and may even die because of this aggressive campaign against science and medicine. (1/4)

#TubulinTuesday!
Picture from the linked article, which includes this description:

Sleeping parasites. Trypanosomid flagellates (Blechomonas lauriereadi) are parasites that live in the extracellular spaces — typically in their hosts’ blood plasma and body fluids. The parasites can cause sleeping sickness if they infect humans, and animal trypanosomiasis in cattle and horses. Here, the organisms’ microtubules are labelled in pink and their extensive mitochondria in green, using expansion microscopy. The images are part of ongoing efforts to build an atlas of microbial eukaryotes.

Specialized RNA decay fine-tunes monogenic antigen expression in Trypanosoma brucei
Nature Microbiology, Published online: 30 March 2026; doi:10.1038/s41564-026-02289-4To evade the immune system, Trypanosoma brucei relies on a specialized ‘expression site body’. Protein condensates within this nuclear compartment modulate expression of virulence genes via a targeted RNA decay mechanism.
