I don't care about this at all, but my general opinion is that like Star Trek, a major part of Who's appeal is it's universality. Except I'd say that Doctor Who is made for children but is also appealing to adults. Either way, it's a mistake to cater for one but not the other in any spin-offs.

This is the Cult of AI - specifically the longtermist variant - at work: “getting to AGI” is deemed so self-evidently important that no sacrifice is too great. The future will be better, so tomorrow doesn’t matter.

And yes I am aware it is a very bisexual light leak.

Just got some film back from the lab and it's a roll where I had to open the back of the camera a couple of times to unjam the film, exposing it to the light. Lots of photos ruined and one massively improved.
A badly light-degraded Kodak Ultramax film fram of a cat looking into the camera with half lidded eyes. The light leak has caused the top part of the image to look very blue and the bottom part to look pink in a manner reminiscent of the bisexual pride flag.

Employees having to quit or go part-time to take care of a loved one because the state won't or can't - bad for business! Employees being unproductive because they're chronically ill and on a years long waiting list for treatment - bad for business! Etc etc

Always amazing how these big business brains never connect the dots between a state with well-funded and easy to access services and benefits *to their business*.

Listen: I don’t want to minimize the danger of high e-bike speeds. But if the problem here is that stores sell e-bikes that can drive faster than legal limits, then where’s the story about how literally *every car dealership has been doing the same thing for decades*?!?

Not a novel observation by any means but the irony here, of course, is that it is precisely the UK’s successful approach to multiculturalism that has allowed us to generate a brown white nationalist.

I know it's LLM generated but it's reflective of how these things are covered. Sweeping right wing reforms are just "reforms" while even modest slightly left-of-centre changes are "socialist reforms". Only one side of the spectrum gets the scary ideological prefix
Bluesky's trending topics panel with "Andy Burnham pushes socialist reforms" in the number one spot.

History is written by the victors. Thatcher broke the power of trade unions by mass unemployment, industrial restructuring, frittered away N Sea Oil, laid the foundations for the current housing crisis, decimated local bus services, hollowed out local government and introduced the poll tax.
Simon Clarke

Andy Burnham seems to remember a different 1970s to the rest of us. Britain in 1979 was utterly broken - ravaged by unaccountable trade union power, economically stagnant, the sick man of Europe.
The 1980s saw a remarkable national recovery based on free enterprise, the rule of law and championing Western values. And it is this that our Prime Minister rails against...

This is horrifying and exactly what a lot of us have been warning against for years. So fucking frustrating. We could have had better—politically, technologically, socially, and economically. We need far better leadership in all fields, at all levels.

The finale of #StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds was...fine. Better than last year's but not particularly memorable. I find the obvious backdoor pilot to be grating and hate it when the crew being dumb and superhumanly unobservant is load bearing to the plot.
