I posted a joke the other day about how my kid wanted a Mickey song that didn't exist, and a bunch of people were like "just AI to make it." I understand needing to please a toddler, but man--that's just not how I want him to think about music at all. It's not a vending machine.

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

This is wild - somebody did a deep dive into the real stories behind this famous XKCD: sheets.works/data-viz/hol...
an XKCD comic showing a precariously assembled tower of blocks. much is labelled "all modern digital infrastructure." a thin leg down at the bottom is labelled "A project some random person in Nebraska has been thanklessly maintaining since 2003."

It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.

My wife: Can you read our baby a book?
Me: I can just play an audiobook from my phone.
My wife: But then it won't be in your voice.
Me: I can train a voice model.
Parenting hits different when you work in Al.

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

These people cannot be trusted to vote in their best interests. Ever. They have failed at the most simple task and have driven this country to ruin. They are too stupid to be allowed to have a say in the future of the country. Convince a non-voter to vote. There are LOTS of those.

Pretty extraordinary moment just now at the 9/11 Memorial. During the reading of the names, the nephew of Lisa Marie Terry used his personal statement to blame the "Deep State" for suppressing files that "implicate Saudi Arabia." He received audible applause.
"For 25 years the Deep State has hidden the truth about what happened that day 25 years ago. President Trump, you are our last hope. Release the unredacted files that implicate Saudi Arabia while what's left of the victim's families are still alive to see it."
