New in PN: Scenes from a personality cult "The ads are unambiguously illegal — & that’s the point. Again & again, this regime has broken the law not just to accomplish some immediate goal, but as a dominance display to say to everyone: Donald Trump does whatever he wants, & nobody can stop him."

Trump’s taxpayer-funded agitprop is clearly illegal — and that’s the point.

How about considering the voters of today - in hospitality and creative industries and education and the wider services sector and the gig economy - who actually exist and are the working class we actually have rather than trying to bring back the fantasy working class voters of the past?

I feel like part of the inability from leading politicians to have any honest conversations around pensions, is because they have to face up to the fact that future generations have less assets, have much worse pvt pensions, and will ultimately have to work longer than previous generations.

Well, well, well - if it isn’t the consequences of our own actions. It would appear that migrants are not, in fact, the fiscal drain we’ve been told they are by years if we go by the £4bn to £6.5bn shortfall that’s been caused by the precipitous drop in numbers under this government. Funny that.

Condemnation is pure hot air if in the next breath you’re telling everyone you’re doing your best to give the fascists what they want, just without the masks
In fact, these are scenes we have not seen on British streets. Immigration needs to be deal with, I will be the first to say that and we are dealing with it. The boat crossings have been halved since six years ago, net migration is down massively.

It’s staggering that you can sit in soft left policy debates and no-one mentions the ecological crisis. This year‘s floods and fires are set to cost Europe 180 billion euro = total projected EU growth for 2026. Now add the inflationary effects on borrowing costs. Now think about ‘fiscal headroom’ 🌬️

I mean, at this point, it's fairly unambiguously paramilitarism. You've got a non-state actor using violence to further political objectives. It's flagrantly in breach of democratic principles several times over. Inaction would be the most ultimate failure of a democratic government.

Having now seen both of the films about de Gaulle, I can heartily recommend them. And if you want an analysis of the 'liberties' taken in the representation of history in film, then who better to provide it than Julian Jackson, the author of the book that the films are based on.
