Dear Quebec voters. Are there any cases you can think of recently in which one society withdrew from its political-economic union with its closest neighbors? If so.. how has that worked out for them? Any lessons one might think about drawing? There will be a quiz on Monday.

I think this is right about Ukraine, but pretty obviously wrong about the Iranians and the Houthis, an overly credulous reading of their aims. Even before the current war, Iran maintained networks of proxies and militias across the region and has pretty obvious hegemonic aims.

I'm not sure who saw this coming, but so far nearly all the jobs created during the second Trump administration have gone to women.
Line chart titled "So far during Trump's second term, just 8% of all job growth has gone to men" showing change in employment by gender since January 2025. Total nonfarm employment grew by 776,000 jobs through September 2026, with women gaining 711,000 positions (92% of growth) while men added only 65,000 jobs (8% of growth). Women's employment gains accelerated sharply through 2026, reaching 711,000 by September, while men's employment growth remained flat with brief periods of decline, including a drop of 96,000 jobs in February 2026.

Feels like skipping past the Civil War and World War II are sorta big tells here? I wonder why he doesn't want to talk about the times the US military waged war against white supremacists. Probably a totally innocent explanation, right? Right?

I find this line of attack odd. 1) surely the panel did not err in evaluating this already? 2) if this was the explanation why the subterfuge and why not advertise it at the outset when the money was being funnelled into the club? [Referring to 2nd half of story about claim $ came from state]

Exactly. This isn't about "trolling" and having some fun making jokes about Trump. For us, it's existential. We know exactly how Trump behaves. You can kiss his butt for years, and he'll wake up one morning and decide to punch you in the face. Trying to "deal" with this guy is a waste of time.

This is a dreadful argument from Burnham. Empirically false - almost 6m people were granted settled status; about 4m are currently resident. More importantly panders to racism/xenophobia, and directly contradicts argument made in his speech about migrant contributions.

OK but FFS the evidence is gathered. How much more evidence do you need? A majority seem to support it but that might prove soft if political campaigning focused on it. I don't think the situation is going to be clarified with more evidence gathering.
