Outside the lab: my video performance Made in China was selected for #chinamaxxing, a group show at TIAT in San Francisco (through Oct 17). In one take, I apply ordinary "Made in China" labels to my face until there's no room left. Not pride, not shame: a statement of fact about where I grew up.
Still 1 of 3 from Made in China (2026): the artist’s bare face at the start of the performance, before any labels are applied.Still 2 of 3: partway through, small “Made in China” product labels are scattered across his face.Still 3 of 3: his face covered with dozens of labels at varying angles. Skin shows between them, and hey looks straight into the camera.

So happy to have this story out! What started as a project about the protein products of a polycistronic mRNA ended up becoming a story about how RNA-mediated assembly of nuclear speckles promotes viral gene expression. What a ride, some very good days on the microscope!! 🔬 @corcoranlab.bsky.social
