Note: Vance’s remarks, mentioned here, did *not* go over well w/Kansas Methodists. At the time, Hamilton’s own bishop issued a statement defending the pastor and condemning the VP’s comments. Then 120 UMC pastors in Kansas did the same in a letter. Read more here: religionnews.com/2026/09/23/h...

How megapastor Adam Hamilton could break the GOP's hold on Kansas
LEAWOOD, Kansas (RNS) — While Democrats have long been considered a longshot for statewide races in Kansas, the Rev. Adam Hamilton's candidacy has proven unexpectedly competitive.

Plenty of people do this, all the time - and not just in DSA. Thinking this is some great challenge indicates not only a lack of imagination but observation.

If your DSA chapter doesn’t have many people who are regularly doing both of these things you should start asking some tough questions about why and change course ASAP

Lots of chatter about FOs and entry-level political/campaign jobs. Most of it is from a good place. I agree more often than not with most of what I see. I think that we're all feeling the elephant but not seeing it - because politics, work, and the economy are changing.

You wanna be an opposition researcher, fine. It's an old and time-honored trade. data center speculators, tech oligarchs, weapons manufacturers pay well. Get that bag scrolling my Facebook. But extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice, and moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue.

by august, every single elected republican will know that even the most checked out median voter will associate $100+ fill-up costs, every single time they have to pay it, with trump first and republicans second. some of them can survive that, but it makes many of their odds much slimmer

Reminder as always, Los Angeles late ballots are left ballots – the sealed ballots turned in at drop boxes in the last three days of the election. Younger and more progressive voters overwhelmingly turn in their ballots this way (myself included).

Elon Musk is a hugely consequential figure who has "won" in the public sphere, which definitionally means he must be an admirable, interesting, and complex figure because to suggest otherwise is to imply things about US society and the course of history that we are simply unwilling to confront.

a thought i had while talking to a friend is that a federal end to partisan gerrymandering has to be at the top of the democratic party's agenda, and may likely get there because of threat the status quo poises to black representation, and thus black political involvement altogether.

There’s been much talk of what post-Trump democratic reforms look like and many proposals seem to approach “constitutional convention” territory and I keep coming back to the Chilean Left’s failure to pass a new constitution after voters rejected it by a double digits. www.npr.org/2022/09/04/1...

Chileans have rejected a new, progressive constitution
The constitution would have put a focus on social issues and gender parity, enshrine rights for Chile's Indigenous population and put the environment and climate change center stage.
