It’s in this context that we’re being asked to believe the press has hounded yet another minor public figure to death for fun, for a laugh, but also in the public interest, and reminded we should be mindful of the vital role they play in our society. I would ask: *for whom* do they play that role?

Like the article exclusively cites specific examples of threats from the right, but vaguely implies a broad spectrum of abuse, particularly with "trans issues". If you can't be honest about who's threatening you, or how it's dragging your reporting to the right, how can anyone ever trust you?

It is NOT a “loophole” that Commonwealth citizens who have been permanent UK residents since before 1973 cannot be deported. It was Parliament’s deliberate decision in the 1971 Immigration Act. It is based on hundreds of years of free movement between the Commonwealth/Empire, abolished in 1973.

There have been three Jewish party leaders in my lifetime and the press and the Labour party have launched antisemitic attacks on all of them. It seems like they like Jewish people just fine so long as they're at arms length, and a hell of a lot less whenever they step out of their place.

Doing the whole “y’all can hear me right? I don’t need the mic?” thing at conferences means that people who need your voice amplified either have to struggle to follow you, or announce to the room that they’re hard of hearing/have issues with auditory processing. Mics every time.

Here’s the thing: research suggests that people DON’T become more conservative with age. Rather, wealthy white people tend to live longer than poorer folks and people of color. That conservatism you see among older folks is actually just survivorship bias.
