Every Friday my dad would take a bag of groceries each to three food banks. This week I emptied his cupboards a took a last bag to each of them from him. The refugee forum, they said, “Oh, we’ve missed your dad, how is he?” Then both volunteers gave me a hug and said how sorry they were.

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.
ADHD and autism at risk of over-diagnosis, says report, as author warns of rise in mental ill health
Summary
• An official review in England finds there is a risk of people being over-diagnosed with
ADHD and autism - three key findings from the report
• As well as neurodevelopmental conditions, the review looks at mental ill health, particularly in younger people. Our health correspondent explains the difference
• It was commissioned earlier this year after Wes Streeting, then the health secretary, said there was an "over-diagnosis" of mental health conditions
• Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme earlier, review chair Prof Peter Fonagy said Streeting was "with respect, completely wrong"

What Archer and the Cornell 7 have in common is clubbable men being protected for their misdeeds by other, similar men. And women being the ones who suffer.

Monica Coglan was cross-examined for 13 hours by Archer’s lawyers in the libel trial. She was frequently in tears as her entire life and character was attacked. She died in a car crash before Archer was found guilty of perjury in that trial. Before it was found she’d told the truth all along.

I'm tired.
Screenshot of my Instagram story because it won't fit in the text. In short, we've built social media apps that promote content about male violence only to the victims - - women - - and the men get to read about anything else. And then people wonder why we're angry and triggered while they haven't seen a word about Cornell.

If you are wondering how that cat gets on top of that wall: It gets on top of the shed and then just runs up the wall like it’s Spider-Man.
A large stone and mortar wall, as high as a house, with an orange cat perched on top of it, staring at me.
Against the wall are two sheds (one painted with a mural by two German students some years ago…). From the top of the sheds to the top of the wall must be something like eight feet. The wall is not smooth like a plastered wall. But it is pretty even. Because it’s heavily mortared, it’s not got lots of handholds (pawholds?) like a dry stone wall would.

Pretty sure England must still be in drought.
Photo of a few feet of footpath. Earth and scrubby grass, few fallen leaves. The ground is deeply cracked - like when mud dries up in really dry weather. The cracks are big enough you could put your finger right into them.
This is northern England (near Middlesbrough). It’s rained many times since the long rain-free period this summer. It rained on Sunday in fact. But clearly the water table is nowhere near back to normal.

Fun fact: All Universal Credit claimants get reviewed and have to submit four months of bank statements, for DWP staff to pick over and compare to submitted earnings and expenses. This can be as often as twice a year. How often do self-employed people and businesses get audited that thoroughly?
