Ever since the fall bus service changes, I’ve had to use this stop to go to the light rail. Not only do I have to run across 145th w/ no crosswalk to a bus stop w/ no seating or shade w/ speeding cars inches away, but I also have to stand under sometimes hundreds of pigeons pooping right above 🙃
Westbound bus stop at 32nd and 145th in Little Brook, from across 145th. 2 cars are going in opposite directions along 145th. A person is sitting on the stop curb. There are many pigeons right above them on 3 different levels of power lines. After running across 145th, person standing just out of the poop zone, looking up at the pigeons above the bus stop

I was in salmon heaven as I attended Issaquah’s Salmon Days for the first time; they’re my favorite fish and oh so delicious! Free bike valet by @cascade.org was convenient, salmon bbq was wonderful, & at the hatchery, I got splashed at one point by a jumping salmon near the water tanks!

That said, check this out: what Mamdani’s team is doing is good. Build strong public facing services (that is, rebuild govt) while at the same time increasing govt capacity and making sure in-house teams have the talent to run the show.
The Washington Sun
projects they'll focus on, but the work will be "core to the Mamdani administration's agenda around
attordability, housing, consumer and worker protection and more," said Maya Israni, senior adviser to the city's chief technology officer.
More than 4,000 people have submitted applications to join the New York City PIT crews, hich will consist of five teams focusing on building services in-house instead of using contractors.
"We really want to have a direct impact on someone's day-to-day life as a New Yorker and make their life on a day-to-day basis better and more affordable," Israni said. "We're here to deliver on core Mamdani administration priorities."

Because the reforms that are needed are things like expanding the civil service, cutting use of contracting, more mission alignment, making hiring faster, and consolidating legal requirements. The right both wants to make govt fail and is ideologically opposed to a lot of that

It’s the Week Without Driving. I only became aware of this annual initiative after I got rid of my car so it’s never been much of a challenge for me. But I want to participate this year, so I’m tweaking the challenge. This week, I’ll put away my bike and only take public transit to get around.

After graduation, I flew home to Seattle and stepped into one of the most meaningful opportunities of my life. After nearly a decade of canvassing, phone banking, and volunteering on political campaigns, I'm now serving as Campaign Manager for Julie for Seattle. Every day, I have the privilege of knocking on doors across District 5, creating campaign content, coordinating our incredible volunteer team, and connecting with neighbors who care deeply about their community. It has been surreal to see our yard signs across the district and to read The Seattle Times endorsement. With ballots arriving next week and the primary just around the corner, I'm excited to keep applying everything I've learned over the past three years while continuing to grow through this experience. https:// Inkd.in/gSh_XTrU

Seattle uses the 160-acre Jackson Park as a golf course. What does this mean for salmon? 2 creeks flow thru into Lake Washington & would be exceptional salmon habitat BUT >66% of the water in the North Fork is drained to irrigate the course, at a rate of >30k gallons/hr. jp4all.org/learn-more/e...
Golf course with two swiggly blue lines pictured. The longer one, Thornton Creek North Fork, starts at 145th and I-5 and crosses the lower 1/3 left corner of the golf course, then travels east and goes a little bit north and exits the map. The other, Little's Creek, clips the right top 1/4 corner of the course.

Besides intense water use, ~1000-3500 gallons of the most toxic EPA Tier-1 pesticides are applied on Jackson Park each year. This kills urban insects, pollinators, and aquatic bugs; contributes to bird population declines; and injects toxic runoff into our creeks. jp4all.org/learn-more/e...
