A recent study indicates that recipients of the recombinant shingles vaccine (Shingrix) experience a lower risk of cardiovascular events compared to those who received the live-attenuated vaccine (Zostavax). While causality is not established, Shingrix may also provide ancillary benefits, including reduced risks of dementia and heart disease.
