Within a decade, I suspect that millennial calls for “consent training” will look just as out of touch as boomer calls for “rape whistles.” Both interventions were equally as successful. The rate of sexual assault has not changed on college campuses since we started measuring it 60 years ago.

Studies dating back to the 80s have found that men are not just “confused” about consent. They just don’t prioritize consent over things like power, domination, and sexual gratification. Men participating in a gang rape know they don’t have the victim’s consent.

We're in court today challenging the anti-trans Kansas law that bans trans people from bathrooms that align with their gender on government property, invalidates driver's licenses with updated gender markers, and lets people sue anyone they suspect of violating the law for damages up to $1,000.

Looks like US-made textiles and clothing have gotten more expensive since Trump imposed tariffs in April 2025.

A graph from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the price of US-made textile products and apparel since July of 2022. The prices held mostly steady until May of 2025, at which point they've gone up about 7%.

The Pope reminds me of a version of Catholicism I knew growing up as a young man attending anti-war and anti-death penalty protests, where I met elderly Catholics who shared their version of faith with me. I learned that Catholicism was about love and mercy for the weak, the condemned, and the poor.

In every single job interview I have had since 2023, I have been asked covertly if I am planning on having children. These questions are *always* posed as either just conversation (e.g., a female faculty member chatting over dinner) or they are asked within a different question.

It's not necessarily a new phenomenon. Forty years ago I head of a student who employed someone to type out a handwritten PhD thesis for submission to the university. On proof-reading it, the candidate realised that the typist had 'corrected' every causal relationship into a casual relationship.
