Sept. 30, 1926: The Superwal, the largest, most powerful seaplane yet built, flies for the first time over Lake Constance in Germany. The Dornier flying boat has three engines mounted above a monoplane wing and can carry 21 passengers. It will become a mainstay of new airline Deutsche Luft Hansa.
