Chinese infantry companies, TO&E drawings, 1942 and 1945. Chinese tried to compensate lack of artillery with grenade dischargers/mortars at the platoon level. Though I really doubt average Chinese platoon commander was good enough to properly coordinate indirect fire and movement. #ORBATBoys

Japanese Type 0 carrier fighter (A6M3 Model 22a) towed along the iron-plated runway of Lakunai Airfield, Rabaul, 1943. The Tetsuban (iron plate) matting was soon removed from usage due to the difficulty of repairing the damage caused by bombing attacks. Found on Facebook.

Interesting article on how hard it was to serve aboard US destroyer off Okinawa in 1945. Yes, in 1945 US naval might was overwhelming. But this article shows, that just few months from Allied victory over Japan service aboard US ships at the from line was far from easy.
