AI is radically changing everything, not just writing, and it's pointless to desperately try to save a system that was broken even pre AI. The alternative is to rethink scientific publishing as a whole. You're grabbing a straw while a hurricane is blowing away the house.

One practical step could be to limit CVs to a maximum of N papers, where the importance of each paper gets explained. N could vary for different purposes.

I have a short one figure hypothesis paper that I would like to get out rapidly. But sadly @biorxivpreprint.bsky.social do not take hypothesis papers without new results. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can get this idea out? It relates to the origins of complex multicellular life

How are mRNAs linked to molecular motors in mammalian cells? In our new preprint, we show that FXR1/2 are RNA adaptors for the microtubule motor dynein. Our findings have also prompted us to rethink how activating adaptors contribute to motor-based transport (1/n)

Just went to a really cool talk by Madhu Srinivasan@oxfordbiochemistry.bsky.social where he discussed their recent finding that Cohesin alone isn't enough for proper sister segregation. He argues that catenation, protected by Cohesin, allows for proper spindle tension www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...
A diagram from the paper shows that Cohesin alone is not enough to hold sister chromosomes, but that catenations (protected by Cohesin) allow for the correct spindle force.
