Homeschool families can now opt out of some state oversight under a bill Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed into law on Friday.

Parents will now no longer be required to notify the state or a school district that they are home educating their child. The law also ends their duty to keep a record of the educational materials they use or to subject their child to an annual academic evaluation.
