Yeah. I don’t follow them because for some reason they post old stories all the time. Even stupid things like a house tour from 2017. Also, they spend way too much focus on sports and shit rich people are doing.

Hey, academics who teach and mentor...are you remembering to teach your students how to do the mundane things like use software efficiently? Using section headers (instead of *bolding* or _underlining_), making a table of contents, inserting footnotes, actually linking Zotero with word processors?

Seeing lots of academic jobs that are "[humanities or social science discipline] & AI"...while I know jobs are hard to find, I can't help feel despair for entire crop of faculty being hired to address 1 topic because of external funding pressures. Digital menstrual tracking is widely promoted to women and girls on social media and by technology companies focused on health and wellness

Menstrual tracking apps claim to inform health and wellness beyong fertility as well as physical fitness and performance goals despite a lack of convincing evidence.

Using digital cycle tracking technologies brings substantial risks to users, including wasted time and labor, unwanted surveillance, risks to health data privacy, potential criminalization and distraction from structural influences on health.

Digital menstrual tracking tools have the potential to reshape understandings of women's health and biology and compound existing inequities that continue to shape menstrual health and wellbeing.

Health practitioners, regulators and the general public must be aware of and work to address the risks of these consumer technologies.

The hype around digital menstrual tracking represents a dangerous resurgence of essentialist claims about the menstrual cycle and women and girls’ vulnerabilities and capabilities, and this type of surveillance does not solve other inequities around menstrual health.
