One of our patrons with a wee tyke owns a flower farm and brought 4 bouquets in for the 4 of us who work at the library. I went home and clipped several flowers to press. I'm making her a thank you card! The little things mean everything. ❤️

I was invited to join a sorority in college. I didn't. It was in the 1970s. Honors, grades, my daughter did a decade later. Philanthropy, good work for education and enrichment. Over the years they supported my work in Education. I worked in parallel doing the same. I do ok. Feels odd.

Someone came in looking for a copy of Yesteryear today. She was mad she couldn't get one. We told her there's a long wait time, a library 10 miles away had one (rules about locals keeping them on shelf for x number of days) we asked if she had her card. I haven't used it in years was her reply. Ok.

Didn't read at all today, but officiated a wedding (the thing I do sometimes) and read Gibran On Love as part of the service. Wedding food is good. Went to karaoke for a bit, but loud music at the reception and then after was enough. Listening to quiet jazz per usual with a sleeping cat. Good day.

Went to a wedding rehearsal tonight. I'm the person marrying them. Driving home on dark curvy roads in rural PA for 30 minutes is no joke. Didn't hit anything, but those halogen lights burned my retinas. Wedding is at 3 tomorrow thank goodness. Nice drive in daytime.

My retirement goal is to stay home, write a substack, blog about how boomers can get rid of stuff the kids don't want. Real conversations about the grief of letting things go, and incorporate art and poetry. Anyone interested in that?

My two daughters and I had epic fun at karaoke tonight. No matter what with relationships, opinions and all else, find a thing. We sing together. We just have that joy. My one came to visit for homecoming stuff in town from far away. One more day to treasure her. My kids did good.

Did a deep dive, spiral actually to the two trucks that provide frozen food, meats especially to our local area. I know they support local vegetables, fruit in our area and a five state area. Tried to hone in on meat, really spiraled in. I won't trust that at all. No verification. Here we are.

Siggy was watching over a baby bunny yesterday in the yard. Distracted her. This morning while I was at work my husband messaged me, she brought a baby bunny head in the house. Ugh...but she lived a feral lifestyle for a while. Is it a gift or a lesson on hunting. Awkward...

I did not read today or listen to an audiobook. My husband set up an office in our spare room. I cleaned and listened to Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks. Three garbage bags later, one step closer to my 2nd retirement. Watching What's Eating Gilbert Grape now. Good day.

When I was 12 my parents had a small library, I read East of Eden. My first Steinbeck. I see an adaptation on streaming is coming out, thought I'd reread it. Lol. There is a 24 week wait. We went to the Salinas Steinbeck Museum years ago. Cool. Talk amongst yourselves about me reading that at 12.

It was a very quiet day at work. Did all my work then decided to figure out how many books I have read/ listened to so far this year. I'm at 86. That doesn't include all the books I read at storytime. Out of them all I had two I didn't want to finish. Reading is my coping mechanism in today's world.

I've been cooking at home a lot, saved money that way with prices so high. I like to make sure the kids at school have what they need. For $30 I ordered bulk winter gloves and socks for the kids at the elementary school. They have a room to outfit kids who need stuff. Consider this for your school.

I was a teacher, watched TV coverage of 9/11 with my students then didn't for obvious reasons. I took the 8 year old to a jh football game, sign at the school said, 911 Remembrance Day. He said they read a book. I told him about that day in 3rd grade language. I'll watch coverage tomorrow at 8:30.

We've been cleaning out our spare room all week. Siggy has enjoyed hanging out there. I had an old Life Is Good hoodie from years ago. I made a makeshift cat bed for her and every night she sleeps in there. Maybe she knows Winter's Coming. Yes GOT reference. Sigrid is happy.

I finished two books lately from Libby. The Kitchen House was rough to get through. I Who Have Never Known Men might be on my top five for powerful like Theo of Golden was in a different manner. I'm going to dive into Wendell Berry and then Kin in the next few days in page turners. Wish me luck.

We spent the whole day cleaning out our spare room. The five second rule of pitch or keep worked. I threw out stuff I previously would have kept. My husband and I are sick of memories keeping stuff. No one wants that. He has 5 days off finally. I have 3. Do it before your kids have to. Truth.

We had a great day at the library after Labor day. Every person came in to return books. Great talks. Many came in to print out car registrations. We are that link. So many book returns, so many holds. I love our people. Libraries are that. Community matters It was a good day. Be that.

Today at the library, the grocery store, the bar for an hour, we all talked about being over sixty and our health, daily life. Everyone needs a voice about this. My second retirement in December when I reach out may be part of that. Real life.

My hold came in. Tomorrow is my day off. My husband has worked 9 days in a row. We may sleep in and enjoy that. Went to the grocery store and got great (Tuesday after holidays) deals. Having a big exhale. Summer resort season is done. Hung with locals at the watering hole for an hour. It's our time.

All of my summer events are done. I slept in, had coffee, ate leftovers and cleaned the house while watching history documentaries. Hubby had to work so I just hermitted. It was lovely.
