There are a lot of details in here about Zuck releasing a half-baked product, but one thing that really stands out is just how weird these folks are. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/09/t...
Meta’s A.I. leaders also incorporated OpenClaw into their own lives. Mr. Friedman hooked his agent up to cameras in his house, where it would instruct him to do things like drink water to stay hydrated.
“It sent me a snapshot frame of me drinking a bottle of water and said, ‘Good job,’” Mr. Friedman said at a recent tech conference.
In another instance, while talking to his agent about ways to get better sleep, OpenClaw took over Mr. Friedman’s self-driving Tesla and redirected him to a grocery store to pick up magnesium pills. At Meta’s annual developer conference last month, Mr. Zuckerberg said he had connected his agent to cameras in his martial arts gym so that it could critique his fighting form.
Yet there were safety concerns. Agents could sometimes go rogue or take over software apps. In February, one agent took over the work computer of a Meta safety researcher, deleting her emails uncontrollably.
“I couldn’t stop it from my phone,” Summer Yue, the researcher, wrote on social media. “I had to RUN to my Mac mini like I was defusing a bomb.”

You NEED to understand that this is happening in America. It’s the intentional plan of a vile white supremacist in the White House, who sees this as an opportunity to finally torture and expel all the nonwhite people he hates.

WHOA. This is big news. Mr. Soliman is a 31-year-old gay man from Egypt who came here at 3 with a green card. He lost his green card after a conviction, but an immigration judge found that he would be persecuted in Egypt and barred sending him there. He's locked in a hotel in Equatorial Guinea now.
A federal judge has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to return Ahmed Soliman to the United States, five months after he was expelled to Equatorial Guinea, a country where he has no ties, in a decision that could have far-reaching implications for thousands of others subjected to the Trump administration’s third-country removal scheme.

Arizona District Court Judge John C. Hinderaker, a Trump appointee, ruled that DHS violated the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment and “must facilitate Plaintiff’s release from custody in Equatorial Guinea and return to the United States and must ensure his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to Equatorial Guinea.”

ChatGPT provided the shooter instructions on how to avoid OpenAI’s moderation and advice on mass killing, right up until the morning of the shooting itself when the shooter asked what time of day school shootings tend to occur. OpenAI must answer for what it enabled. disconnect.blog/the-media-ha...
After creating it, the future shooter asked ChatGPT how to avoid getting banned a second time around. It instructed to frame scenarios as fictional and not to use real-world locations. “You can still be twisted. Just be clever about it,” the chatbot responded to the query. Over the next eight months, it helped the shooter plan the school shooting and entertain other violent scenarios, right up until the morning of February 10 when the shooter asked what time of day school shootings tend to occur.

OpenAI may deny its culpability in the case, but it’s now facing dozens of lawsuits from the victims of the Tumbler Ridge shooting and their families, along with the province of British Columbia. It’s not even the first time this has happened. Other countries have seen similar cases, like in April 2025 when a shooter entered the student union at Florida State University and killed two people after planning the attack with ChatGPT. This is part of the real threat of generative AI, but don’t expect it to get the wall-to-wall coverage that’s been given to the sensationalist lies of industry deceivers.

Eliezer Yudkowsky did quite literally come out and say that he wrote Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality as a "good way to recruit International Mathematical Olympiadists" (who are teenagers, a group that, in 2010, one could safely assume had read Harry Potter). hpmor.com/notes/119/
As for what I can potentially do to become able to write for you again… to say it abstractly, I have to perform some combination of (a) shifting the way that I am perceived in relation to important projects, (b) shifting the ‘role’ outsiders see me as occupying and the real status they attach to that role, and (c) locally or (d) globally ameliorating the worsening societal condition that lies at the core of the problem. This is a complicated topic and I can’t easily summarize my thinking on the subject, nor the sorts of plots I’m considering to address it; the margins of this Author’s Note are too small. (Imagine my trying to explain briefly to someone why blogging about rationality for two years was the best way to get a nonprofit into a position where it could produce mathematical progress on the value alignment problem for advanced agents, or why a Harry Potter fanfiction would be a good way to recruit International Mathematical Olympiadists for that project.)

The immensely politically influential Eliezer Yudkowsky believes that nuclear war is better than letting AI get too smart - and hey, it’ll all work out for humanity if we make sure a small “reproductive population” survives the cleansing fire. Cool! Normal!

I disagree that you mentioned what it takes to live; you've gestured at nuclear risk. US military ops use a collateral damage estimate that they then compare to achievable military gains before making a decision to strike. How many people are allowed to die to prevent AGI?

There should be enough survivors on Earth in close contact to form a viable reproductive population, with room to spare, and they should have a sustainable food supply. So long as that's true, there's still a chance of reaching the stars someday.

NEW: DHS's Inspector General releases a scathing report about the Everglades detention camp known as "Alligator Alcatraz." The OIG finds that the now-closed camp, violated multiple ICE standards. The OIG also confirms detainees were punished with placement in a metal cage in the Florida heat.🧵
OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Staff also reported that time spent in the small metal enclosures is closely monitored, and
detainees are not locked in, even though we observed locking mechanisms on the enclosures.
Figures 11 and 12. Small Metal Enclosures; Observed January 21, 2026

Underneath is a picture of a metal cage that is 4 feet 3 inches wide by 4 feet 3 inches long, and 7 feet 9 inches high. The cage itself is placed on a tiny spot of fake turf, and then surrounded by another chainlink fence with razor wire on top. The cage is covered by a roof, but it's entirely exposed to the outside otherwise, meaning mosquitos and no air conditioning.
