Independent journalist at lamplighter.news Lost my Minnesota accent reporting on charter schools, special education, sunshine laws in New Orleans. Had successful LITT brain surgery! Mid-Citizen. Alt text: A 5yo in a snowsuit, snow-covered bungalow.

This is particularly concerning in the digital era. Pooling interviews without interviewer oversight or involvement is so irresponsible. Imagine possible transcription errors

This is unethical, unprofessional and not how journalists should operate. The other journalists should cease using secondary source interviews. I had this issue with a journalist adding descriptions, adjectives and other items they couldn’t have known without speaking to the person firsthand.

I just got a HoseHawk commercial on YouTube and it sounds like a deranged SNL advertisement. "This sprayer can slice clean through a tree" "This is the last chance to purchase it before the government pulls it off the shelves" for safety reasons.

David Flippo blamed staff for exaggerating his military record. His own hat tells a different story.
The Nevada Republican sported V-shaped emblems that signify a valor award next to a Bronze Star. Flippo never received a Bronze Star for valor.

What do we think about age minimums to enter bars? I'm not angry about not drinking near 22yos... but I do think an age discrimination for 30+ requirement would be a novel challenge. (I also don't know that it fixes problems)

I was on an 11-1 jury two years ago. I called William Snowden afterwards to help me make sense of a few things and he was very kind. The jury wasn't allowed to take notes - this surprised me - and, perhaps most difficult, we weren't allowed to have the written laws in the deliberation room.

There's a death penalty documentary out there, with a professor(?) who argues the death penalty should be carried out by firing squad — because the current medicalization, lethal injection, downplays the fact that the state is killing someone.

The findings in this incredible piece of reporting from @bethhawkins.bsky.social and team range from infuriating to gut-wrenching. ABA became the standard of care, driven by parents doing their best, and behind the scenes, private equity took advantage (or rather, did exactly what it does).

I'd really like to see a smaller trash bin option - or some sort of option scaled to water use (assuming that's reflective of household size). I'm one person. I have maybe two bags of trash a week — $32/month is a big lift.

Reading and makes me think of the lawsuits in Louisiana a decade ago — the state had expired drugs and could only find the cocktail via a compounding pharmacy.
