The whole menu / on demand system reveals itself to be astonishing at some things, and very poor at others. There are loads of things a streamer should never even try to make, as the menu system will vanish it completely. VOD needs to exist in parallel with linear TV for a healthy TV culture.

Hm. Conversations I’ve had with insiders at Netflix are all about how any menu system can’t remotely compete with linear TV - so many disadvantages - and that plenty of programmes and whole genres can only survive on a platform that doesn’t rely on an algorithmic / front page priority system.

There's no evaluation of how diagnosis is carried out, just stating numbers. And Wes Streeting and the BBC are running this headline narrative.

Also, that headline is so fucking misleading. The article says that the review can't conclude that they're over diagnosed, just that the numbers are higher than expected. Partly because you don't get SEND support at school without a formal diagnosis anymore

I find it incredibly annoying that their evidence is that it's trending above previous expected levels. Which would be normal for a diagnosis that relies a lot on behaviour, as we learn more about how it presents, no?

This is NOT about using Claude to be cruel to people, write racist shit, or anything like that. It's about being mean to the model itself. www.anthropic.com/news/2026-us...
Addressing abusive behavior toward our models

We’ve added a prohibition on sustained and needless abusive or cruel behavior toward our models. The policy update is meant to apply only in extreme cases, where users repeatedly act cruelly toward our models, with no discernible purpose. It does not apply to common versions of user frustration, pushback, dark creative themes, or model testing and research.

This addition aligns with a step we've already taken, allowing Claude models to end rare conversations with persistently abusive users on Claude.ai and Claude Code. Such abuse is the main focus of this update; Claude’s ability to end these interactions will remain the primary enforcement mechanism.

Fairly dismal numbers, truth be told. Can’t rely on DK/WNV to not swing behind staying out. We really need 60%+, consistently, once everyone else is lumped into ‘stay out and people who won’t say either way’. Also: fifty fucking two per cent can go do one, in any context. Horrible number.

Decision is here, thank you @passifloraresearch.com! Here is how the judge opens the opinion, explaining the context. For those unfamiliar, deferral under the Convention Against Torture requires a person to prove that it is "more likely than not" that they would be tortured if sent to that country.
Plaintiff A.M.A.S. holds a grant of deferral of removal to Egypt under the Convention Against Torture (“CAT”). Defendants nonetheless removed him to Equatorial Guinea—a country not designated in his removal order and with which he has no ties—without notice or any opportunity to raise a fear-based claim against removal to that country. It is unrebutted that he has since been held under armed guard; threatened at gunpoint; and arrested, beaten, and held incommunicado by Equatorial Guinean authorities. In this civil action, Plaintiff seeks declaratory and injunctive relief requiring Defendants to facilitate his return. (Doc. 1.)

WHOA. This is big news. Mr. Soliman is a 31-year-old gay man from Egypt who came here at 3 with a green card. He lost his green card after a conviction, but an immigration judge found that he would be persecuted in Egypt and barred sending him there. He's locked in a hotel in Equatorial Guinea now.
A federal judge has ordered the Department of Homeland Security to return Ahmed Soliman to the United States, five months after he was expelled to Equatorial Guinea, a country where he has no ties, in a decision that could have far-reaching implications for thousands of others subjected to the Trump administration’s third-country removal scheme.

Arizona District Court Judge John C. Hinderaker, a Trump appointee, ruled that DHS violated the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment and “must facilitate Plaintiff’s release from custody in Equatorial Guinea and return to the United States and must ensure his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to Equatorial Guinea.”
