I'm afraid @craigspencer.bsky.social gives MAHA far too much credit. MAHA is just a rebranding of the medical freedom/antivax coalition that has been undermining public health for decades. It isn't unique in caring about healthy food, chronic disease, or healthier children—nearly everyone does.

bloomberg has a fun article today arguing that the Cybertruck is the biggest flop in automotive history. it includes this glorious graph.
A graph showing how the edsel and Cybertruck both performed based on their sales target and actual year one and year two sales. The edsel was expected to sell 200k units in its first year. It sold slightly over 50k, and less than 50k the next year

The Cybertruck had a sales.target of 250k in its first year. They sold around 40k, the next year they sold about half as many.

The WHCA Dinner used to be an event at which POTUS was roasted by the press, which ostensibly served the purpose of reminding POTUS of the role of the news media as a check on executive power. Now it is a humiliation ritual for journalists, in which their very presence is evidence of subservience.

Representatives for Taylor Farms called the White House to try to delay a recall tied to one of the largest foodborne illness outbreaks in U.S. history www.wsj.com/health/taylo...
Representatives for produce giant Taylor Farms contacted the White House with an urgent plea: the company wanted to delay announcing a recall tied to one of the largest foodborne illness outbreaks in U.S. history.
The call, during which the company asked for more proof and more time before being linked to the outbreak, illustrates how one of the country’s largest produce suppliers sought to limit its exposure to a public-relations nightmare, while grappling with a costly and complicated recall. Over the past several weeks, health officials have been scrambling to contain the outbreak of cyclospora, which can cause explosive diarrhea. Some current and former government officials have criticized the handling of the outbreak, both by the administration and Taylor Farms.Federal health authorities were preparing late last week to link Taylor Farms to a multistate parasitic infection that has sickened thousands. The company wanted to see more evidence, according to people familiar with the matter.
The White House asked officials from the Food and Drug Administration, which has been investigating growing cases of cyclosporiasis, to join the call with Taylor Farms, which the government maintains is the source of the multistate outbreak. During the discussion, Taylor Farms raised concerns that the government had no positive laboratory tests linking its product to the outbreak and that it was overstating the company’s culpability, according to one of the people who was on the call.
Taylor Farms sought out the White House after company executives felt they hadn’t gotten enough clarity from the FDA on the evidence behind a potential recall and the scope of it, according to a person familiar with the situation.
Health and Human Services Department spokeswoman Emily Hilliard said the FDA presented Taylor Farms with substantial evidence connecting its products to the outbreak and engaged in extensive discussions with the company.

The Trump administration had a problem; most immigrants show up for their court hearings and fight their cases. That's bad for the Trump admin, which wants to rapidly generate removal orders. Enter "mega masters" — rescheduling hearings for days later with no notice but a letter in the mail.
In June, for the first time since 2019, more people were found to have missed court in Chicago than showed up, according to data released by the Executive Office of Immigration Review — immigration court’s formal name.

More immigrants missed their Chicago court dates in June than appeared
Before June, more immigrants were attending court hearings than skipping them. Since the Trump administration started "mega master" mass immigration hearings in May, the number of people failing to attend has nearly doubled.

Below is a graph illustrating this change in trend.
