POSTED: Jul 24, 9:51 a.m.
LAST UPDATED: Jul 24, 9:53 a.m.
Customers across the province may experience flickering lights, brief power interruptions or fluctuations in power due to wildfire activity across the province. Smoke and ash from the wildfire are causing short, temporary interruptions in the flow of electricity. Our electrical grid is operating as expected under these conditions and we continue to work closely with BC Wildfire on our response. Thank you for your patience

Without marginalia we wouldn't have Fermat's Theorems, much less Fermat's Last Theorem.

I love the Guardian for describing him as a racist and bigot, but a "Pied Piper" led children to their death.
Kirk, a far-right political figure who served as a sort of Pied Piper for young Republicans through his Turning Point USA foundation, was shot dead in September last year. He was known for his racist and bigoted views, using his podcast to claim that “prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people” and speculating: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like: ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”

yes, it's cursed
To add injury to insult, Furnari recently broke his foot working on the statue, after tripping over a roll of tape in his studio.

“Is it cursed? Maybe. I don’t know,” he told the Guardian.

Hi @wordpress.org I don't want AI in my platform. It is one of the least popular things that humans have ever invented. You would do well to realize that actual people hate this shit. If you're adding this feature, stop bragging about it. It sucks.
Welcome to WordPress 7.0
WordPress 7.0 introduces the foundation for AI across the platform, letting you connect your preferred provider and put it to work across your site. Edit more simply by dropping in layouts and swapping content without diving into blocks. The navigation overlay now taps into the full potential of blocks, and reviewing historical changes is easier with a visual comparison.

Fun fact, Minnekhada used to be owned by one Leroy Jenkins IYKYK Afterwards it was owned by two rich fucks who were also Lieutenant Governors of BC. minnekhada.ca/minnekhada-p...
The earliest records of the Minnekhada lands date to 1895 when George Alderson acquired 160 acres in a land grant. The land was sold in 1912 to Harry Leroy Jenkins, who established the Minnekhada Dairy and Stock Farm Company. Jenkins was from Minnesota and chose the name Minnekhada, which was derived from the Sioux language for ‘Rattling Water.

FSRs as Through Roads
While the FSR network in the Sea to Sky Corridor is vast, there are limited FSRs that are through-roads between
communities and therefore limited opportunities for use in an evacuation, which are identified below. There are
four routes that could be used as last-resort evacuation routes or bypass routes, although FSRs are a poor option
for people without backcountry driving experience or off-road vehicles.
Hurley River Road – Pemberton to Gold Bridge
The Hurley River FSR connects Pemberton with the community of Gold Bridge in the Bridge River Valley. At Gold
Bridge people can connect with Route 40, which is a paved provincial Highway. The Hurley is suitable for vehicles
in summer (preferably 4x4) and is not maintained in winter (November to May). There is a cardlock fuel station in
Gold Bridge that accepts credit cards for gas and diesel. This area is very remote and there is no cell service after
Pemberton.
In-SHUCK-ch Forest Road 4x4 – Pemberton to Harrison Lake
The In-SHUCK-ch FSR runs by the Lillooet River from Mount Currie to the north side of Harrison Lake. The road
provides access to several communities including Lillooet Lake Estates, Samahquam Nation, Skatin Nations
and Douglas First Nation. The In-SHUCK-ch FSR connects with the Sts’Ailes FSR and then the Chehalis FSR onto
Highway 7 East of Mission. The road is recommended for 4x4 vehicles and the last 40 km from Port Douglas to
Harrison Hot Springs is very rough. Note: As of November 24, 2017, the Sts’ailes FSR was closed at 56 km, and
has not yet (as of January 8, 2019) reopened to vehicle traffic.

I made my offering to the forest book god this morning. It seems to be well received.
Approaching the book god in the woods, you see it is attached to an ancient sign post, marking it as being at the crossroads of time and space
(a small white house-like structure is strapped to a steel post in the woods, surrounded by greenery. The signs on the top of the post say "Eaton St" and "N. Delta")We approach the god, asking if we can place our offering within.

The small house-like structure has a glass door painted white. The words "little free store" are written at the top of the door under the peaked roof. You can see the forest behind. Our offering of words from a local author, about a local character, having been turned into a TV series filmed locally, is placed gently within the god's interior.

A close up of the book "The Suspect" by L.R. Wright, an author from Burnaby who wrote a series of books about Karl Alberg, a cop living in Sechelt. Now a TV show called "Murder in a Small Town"

Trump intervened directly to delay the opening, so he cares as much as he does about anything - most likely to see if there is any way he can benefit. The democrats locked on to the issue for their campaigns globalnews.ca/news/1195019...
The New York Times has reported that billionaire Matthew Moroun, whose family owns the competing Ambassador Bridge, met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick hours before Trump issued a social media post in February threatening to block the bridge’s opening if the U.S. wasn’t “compensated.”
010
Michael Coyle @oplopanax.ca · 11/07/2026
Trump is incredibly fickle and weak under even the slightest pressure. The only reason the bridge was delayed is because he knows one guy. The many people who want the bridge open on the American side would quickly outweigh the one billionaire
The Ambassador Bridge has been criticized for its monopoly status (as large trucks are not permitted to use the tunnel[10]), private ownership by billionaire Manuel Moroun and poor maintenance record.[11][12] Both the bridge and the road tunnel lack direct highway connections on the Canadian side, with city streets and traffic lights between them and Ontario Highway 401.[13]

The Friends of Cypress still have a grudge. cypresspark.ca/park-history
1960-1969
In 1964 a proposal was put forward by private enterprise to develop commercial ski facilities in Cypress Bowl. At that time, MLA Dave Barrett pressed the Minister of Forests to honour the 1944 commitment to preserve forest land in Cypress Bowl, and to save it from development.

Unfortunately logging resumed in 1966, which resulted in the clear-cutting of portions of Black and Strachan mountains. Logging continued until public outrage obliged the Province, in 1971, to take over development of winter recreation in the area. In 1972, B.C. Parks began developing the Alpine and Nordic skiing facilities. Construction of Cypress Bowl Road was completed in 1973.
120
Michael Coyle @oplopanax.ca · 29/06/2026
One astonishing thing Steve learned is that the Park Use Permit that allows the operator to use the park for commercial operation is *transferable** -- the evidence being that Manning Park and Cypress Mountain have both changed hands.
Ownership
The Park Use Permit states that it can be sold and the province can not unreasonably withhold approval (“The Minister shall not unreasonably refuse to consent to a sale, assignment, transfer or disposition under section 8.01….”) The permits at Cypress and Manning have both changed hands already. If a 60 year development plan is approved that includes significant expansion of commercial activities (and the corresponding 50 year permit renewal is granted,) then one may assume the value of the permit will increase dramatically overnight. That value, which is tied to rights to public land, would accrue to the corporation instead of the public.

It's a hash of "what does airborne really mean" where she contradicts herself, and comes so close to understanding the harms she caused.
Airborne means a lot of different things across different professions. To me as a virologist, airborne doesn’t tell me anything about the particular virus in question except that it might be transmitted through the air. How infectious is it? How do you get exposed to aerosols? Is it measles (everyone who isn’t vaccinated gets it) or is it seasonal flu (you might get it and vaccination status will determine if you get sick or not) or is it rhinovirus (you might get it and you might have symptoms of a cold)? What are the specific transmission risks and how do you mitigate them? Saying that something is a start, but it doesn’t offer much detail.WHO had a very good reason for being so cautious. “Airborne” means something very specific in terms of infection prevention and control practices in hospitals, and that something includes enhanced personal protective equipment (PPE), specialized facilities, and trained staff. If WHO says “airborne,” that has implications for health care around the globe. In 2020, the pandemic was putting a massive strain on health care systems and WHO was extremely conscientious of issuing guidelines that would overburden them further. Whether you think this should have been prioritized or not, that was the basis for proceeding slowly. WHO knows that their word choices can be extremely consequential.
