Synesthetes' pupils reflect the brightness of colors that they only see internally, making their hidden perceptual experience objectively measurable.

Nature Communications - Neural mechanisms underlying cannabinoids’ anxiogenic effects are not fully understood. Here authors show that cannabinoids dose-dependently increased spontaneous...

Researchers developed a multilayer MEG framework that estimates activity across cortical depth non-invasively. Simulations and three human datasets show when reliable laminar inference is possible, en...

Expectations can inform fast, accurate decisions. But what informs expectations? Here we test the hypothesis that expectations are set by dynamic inference from memory. Participants performed a cue-gu...

Neuropsychopharmacology - Development of a nose-poke restricted vaporized cocaine self-administration model in mice

This is a Perspective covering a Python toolbox for neuroscience research that enables users to fetch datasets, construct networks and null models, estimate graph metrics, fit statistical models and v...

While social interactions and actively chosen solitude both contribute to well-being, existing measures focus solely on one dimension. We developed the SOcial experiences' daiLy Occurrence (SOLO) sca...

Neuropsychopharmacology - Chronic ethanol self-administration alters dopamine in the caudate nucleus and putamen of rhesus macaques in a sex-dependent manner

Reward-predictive cues can influence decision-making and promote the pursuit of specific outcomes. This influence is classically studied using specific Pavlovian-to-instrumental transfer (sPIT), in wh...

Risk attitudes can shift across contexts and even between identical choices. Here, the authors show that as parietal payoff representations grow noisier, the brain leans more on prior beliefs, biasing...

Neuropsychopharmacology - Selective orexin receptor cross-over treatment increases resilience and expression of neuroplastic signaling genes

Schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depression vary in their age of onset, cognitive impacts, degree of impairment, and clinical course. However, since psychosis is a transdiagnostic feature th...

Author summary Despite the complex wiring patterns found in the cortical connectome, many dynamical properties of macroscale cortical activity can be surprisingly well explained by treating the cortex...

Background Non-invasive modulation of deep brain structures remains a major challenge in human neuroscience and neurorehabilitation. Transcranial temporal interference stimulation (tTIS) has emerged a...

Neuropsychopharmacology - Early life stress induces sex-specific changes in cognitive and affective behavior associated with disrupted noradrenergic physiology

The genomic regions regulating gene expression are often themselves transcribed into a variety of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). However, the regulatory roles of this noncoding transcription remain largely ...
