Oh for crying out loud. We don't need this. We don't need this. Wind, solar, and batteries, folks. On top of our massive hydro reserves, we're completely fine. And that's in addition to the fact that we have no local expertise in nuclear.

That expert is Michael Whitbrock and he says a great example of AI integration is the transcription of doctors’ appointments. I guess he hasn’t read the Canadian Auditor General report which found AI transcripts were full of mistakes and outright hallucinations.
But University of Auckland Al expert Dr Michael Witbrock thinks Al uptake can still be high in certain fields. The widespread use of Al notetakers in GPs' offices, for example, is evidence of "relatively high trust amongst people who have looked into the utility of this".

Read the article and it looks like the bill before Parliament would empower politicians to overturn decisions of the Psychotherapist Board. Now who might have cause to challenge whether they're fit to practice and what views might they hold - and why would the Govt support them.

We sat chatting about whether we had enough unemployed people to suppress workers' wages. A few of us thought more misery would be good, but the new boss made the line call... current levels of misery would be OK for a another month or so. It was a great discussion. The vibes were good.

It's a weird take. Wellington's economy relies on the people who live and work in Wellington. If a private sector business in Wellington laid off thousands of people, with plans for thousands more, it would also have a big impact.

One of the worst things about our press gallery is almost without exception - and please, point me to any that don't do this so I can give credit! - they accept completely uncritically the framing that "cuts = savings". Which *extremely obviously* are concepts which are not 1:1 equivalents.

Turns out that if you make thousands of workers redundant, remove worker protections, fail to rein in food/power/housing costs, and generally reduce income and quality of life for everyone who didn't donate to your party... that has flow-on effects! 🙃

Willis’ speech comparing our number of govt departments to Aussie is missing a major key point that Aussie has federal depts, and each state has its own set of depts that run things at a state level. Then there are the local governments. Hardly a relevant comparison.
