The reviewer means non-binary here rather than transgender but regardless - FAM, CHAT, WHĀNAU, this article is almost out in the world and I am over the moon (it's been so, so long 😭)
Reviewer #1: In its original form, this was a strong manuscript. The revisions - including an additional section - expands the engagement with feminist theory and draws out the specific nature of the violence suffered by women MPs in a much more sustained way. The analysis of gendered violence is enriched by inclusion of the case of the transgender MP and the intersectional dimension of OGBV are better foregrounded. I am pleased to recommend that this very well written, structured and presented manuscript is accepted for publication without further amendment.

#NZpol Maybe they actually think their actions can be passed off as "we *could* do *worse*... so watch it"? Anyhoo, we *had* chain stores that didn't take the piss AND treated staff well. Dad reminded me of this chain some time back, but I just remembered to look it up again now. Details in ALT.
"Sel Help Co-operative Limited was a New Zealand chain of grocery shops founded in 1922 by Benjamin Sutherland in Wellington. there were 200 Self Hep shops in 1947, making it the largest grocery company in New Zealand at the time."

OTHER DETAILS ABOUT THIS CHAIN... Quite the story

From Te Ara, Encyclopedia of NZ
Biographies

https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/4s56/sutherland-benjamin

Benjamin Sutherland

"In 1921, concerned at the rising price of consumer goods..."

HELLO AOTEAROA 2026, SOUND FAMILIAR!?

"...he organised a co-operative shop among railway employees. The scheme failed to attract sufficient support and several wholesalers began exerting political pressure to have it stopped. Sutherland decided to start his own business and resigned from the railways. On 27 October 1922 he founded the Self Help Co-operative Limited, a retail grocery business. The venture was immediately successful and within a year there were seven Self Help shops in Wellington..."

(It would eventually grow to 200 shops by 1947)

- 1932: to celebrate 10th anniversary, staff benefit fund created.
- Created an own brands, including soaps, jellies, custard powders.
- 1944 Fund established to provide superannuation and life assurance for
  employees.
- 1946 A women's marriage bonus and an educational bursary scheme started.

- Self Help was the first self-service grocery chain in New Zealand.
- In order to reduce costs, it purchased goods in bulk and did not offer wrapping services

In 1974 Woolworths started purchasing Self-Help stores in order to expand its own foothold in the country... and the rest, as they say, is history. NOTE however, at the time that purchase happened, it was the wholly NZ-owned / founded (1949) Woolworths — inspired it is said by the Woolworths brand overseas, but not at all related. Acquired itself by L. D. Nathan before being passed to a Hong Kong firm, then to Progressives here (NZ), before *that* was acquired by the *Australian* Woolworths Grp in 2005.
