#NZpol So, Campaign 26 so far is basically Luxon not knowing how to back out of stupid statements his Ministers make about the Greens, only to fuck that up too by blaming another party altogether... And Willis making unbelievable tax "scenarios" and getting caught AGAIN? So... the f'n usual then?

#NZpol The State of Things. Part of the outcome of all the broader underfunding of the health system and its various constituent parts is the distinct lack of help for support workers themselves... and those looking after other family members w/o support. Difficulties can easily compound rapidly.

#NZpol I wonder if "the news" could ever take it upon itself to prat on less about "How much will 'tHe LefT' cost us doing This Thing" and try "What would it cost us if we DIDN'T?" Leaves Oppo poli's free to run w/ how much the current lot cost us RIGHT *NOW* by stopping *good* policy. It'd help.

#NZpol In sum, part of what I alluded to 3 years back... "Weltanschauungskrieg" or World View Warfare: a *starting point* for this govt. Sane ideas being *deliberately manipulated* into existential threats. Chris Rufo, Martin Sellner, Brian Tamiki, David Seymour: all working *the same playbook*.

#NZpol An oldie from The Other Place... but a Goodie too. Because this is the world we're having to fight our way out of. The kind of world Seymour, Luxon Peters think is "just how it is". Yes, the kind of world that will simply accelerate even more *if they get back in*. So *vote them ALL out*.

#NZpol That's good to note, though I hope that's a specific vector rising for wanting this current govt OUT. Traditionally, sure, the Left have basically benefited from O/S votes - hence the drive to slice up enrollment dates this year - but *don't rely on it*. *LOCAL* TURNOUT *STILL IMPORTANT*.

#NZpol TBF I don't think Luxon munches on anything but the bones and flesh of poor people. He should tone it down and simply call Luxon a total cunt, a gibbering idiot spewing verbal diarrhea, led by a leash on his shock collar by a yapping shit of Deputy and an old fart clinging off the side.

#NZpol And "the market" itself will simply operate on the rules *we* do *or don't* allow. It's not magical. It's something literally set up and run according to rules *we* as people, institutions, govts *decide* is "good". And where it serves no good purpose should... be... changed... accordingly.

#NZpol While ACT and National (and their most devoted bases) won't find issue with keeping people in the dark, I guess one could possibly hope other not-quite-so-decided voters may ponder how that attitude translates to not telling them everything in other areas. Like their *real* plans for us all.

#NZpol Ah, about our RW fundies in govt currently setting policy to do with, hmmmm, poor people, sick people, those in need and always resolutely admonishing the Poors that they're "bottom feeders" and need to be directed in the Ways of A Good Life by upstanding Christians with impeccable morals 🙄
An idyllic scene as a 50's era family gathers round to hear Business Daddy preach... what is he preaching? Rubbish of course.

Ergo, his son (who may or may not be Max Key after he leaned out the window and yelled "Real men ride women" at a passing cyclist) asks:

"So if the Bible or our leaders tell us we should help poor people, help heal the sick, respect others, not lie, take some personal responsibility and certainly not use the Lord's name in vain when caught not doing any of it... why do we support National?"

Business Daddy replies:

"Oh Billy, we don't actually practice these things. We only preach them!"

#NZpol Correct. Typically from the RW direction, with their fetish for "security!", "law!" and "ORDER!", these utterances are often openly abused as policy trojan horses *for more heavy handed policing* if plebs don't "behave" appropriately. And we already know they're 100% shit with AI oversight.

#NZpol TL:DR Stupid quips from Brown and Seymour about shifting burden to taxpayers instead of "high earners" who I guess should simply pay it off... in an economy set up to *keep* wages LOW, bursting with *their own* handouts, where sackings and underfunding core needs is... "what grown-ups do".

#NZpol If the phrase "belongs in the fiction section" sounds familiar, yes, it's the same BS when "Dirty Politics" was released ⏬ Williams and Farrar withdrew *slightly* from speaking/ slots then — riiiiiight up until they got asked back *AGAIN AND AGAIN* to give 'insights'. Rinse BS, Repeat BS.
Two stalls set out and a crowd gathers. One stall displays "Comforting Lies", the other "Unpleasant Truths".

The former is manned by Jordan Williams of the TPU and yes, that's David Farrar, and yes, that is the pic of him dressed as Jimmy Saville, the pedo, and yes, it's weird anyone would dress up like him even as a joke, even weirder this happened *after* he was outed for being a pedo.

But then again, David may just want to feel more comfortable at those "Princess Parties" he helped oversee (VOMIT). Makes the "meat on legs" as one attendee put it easier to catch Davey?

Jordan Williams expounds and exhorts his (faux) ignorance of anything and dishes out words like "It's all lies" and other BS to the crowd.

On the other side, a lonely figure mans the "Unpleasant Truths" stall, with three of Nicky Hagers books showing: "The Hollow Men", about the then-Brash led National Party and its underhanded tactics in tandem with the Exclusive Bretheren (among others), "Dirty Politics" which covered the Key-led National government and the dirty machinations of Jordan Williams, Simon Lusk, David Farrar, Cameron Slater and others... and lastly, the latest release, "Dirty Work", featuring, again, Jordan Williams and David Farrar as more principle players this time.

And of course... the media, and assorted hangers-on, are readily publishing excuses and diversions of course, because, that's... what they do.

#NZpol Hey Simeon, you fuckwad, complain all you like about "the expense" of this, that or the other damn thing, but when *your own govt partner* spent "gazillions" on *its* pet Ministry, and your Party promotes uncosted taxcuts, donor kickbacks, fast tracking policy then having to rewrite it?!

“Simply put, we screwed up,” the company said in a statement. “...While these mistakes weren’t intentional, that doesn’t make them okay.” Simply put, someone in a position of power decided to use it and MADE them cough up. Otherwise, they'd still be happy to be fighting it off, quite intentionally.

#NZpol INDEED. Important for anyone wary of undue influences *on any govt*, but especially so given the intent of the current parties ruling the roost in *this* admin. Influence pipelines was a big subject within a lengthy post of mine t.ly/4wba4 some 10 yrs ago, so, looking fwd to reading this.
An extract from an article posted by Ōrauariki Wellington School of Business and Government, covering a recently available Report into Lobbying.

Extract reads:

"The point that this report presses is not that lobbying itself is the problem. Indeed, as one former ministerial staffer argued: “The only way decision-makers can do their work is if they are hearing from people.” Lobbyists can articulate the views of neglected groups and bring much-needed information into the political system. But when lobbying is opaque, self-interested, or reflecting large imbalances in resources, it can run counter to the public good. As one former public servant put it: “The lobbying is intense and the capture is rife.”

#NZpol A very problematic side effect to making everything "personal" and "focused on the individual" has been individualising any problems too, *including systemic ones*. Way easier to just fault/vilify bene's for "just being difficult", no *real* explanation/examination of circumstance needed.
Excerpt from RNZ article "Ministry of Social Development payment errors topped $2.5m, thousands affected - review" by Lauren Crimp.

It reads:

"The WEP problem was first raised on 30 April by an MSD staffer, the review said.

Staff and clients continued to raise it over three months, but were told the system was operating as intended under the legislation, "which was technically correct".

They appeared to be individual client concerns and MSD did not identify a wider pattern, it said."
