Disability doesn’t care how old you are. Specialist food is no cheaper if you’re 19. Employers don’t lose their prejudice if you’re 21. This is blatant intergenerational inequality from Labour. Younger disabled people of all severities deserve better. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

All of this. I also want to add that, in my research, I found that a lot of “inconsistencies” in a victim’s story actually came from gender bias affecting investigators’ record keeping and interview methods.

Socially and in the legal system, our understanding of responses to sexual violence is purposefully uninformed and therefore limited to only “perfect” victims (who don’t really exist), so that we don’t have to actually combat sexual violence or believe victims or hold perpetrators accountable.

A demon appeared in the summoning circle. It was wearing pyjamas. "I summoned thee to give me knowled-" "Really?" the demon said. "You have the internet these days, the world's knowledge a click away. Nobody's summoned me in years." "You have all knowledge. Why did I summon thee?" "... oh shit."

So what is happening here is that people are taking statements of belief and faith and demanding that someone falsify them, and then saying SEE??? YOU CAN'T DISPROVE IT. No shit. It's not falsifiable. You also can't prove that Jesus won't rapture the AI before that could happen.

Climate change is as straightforward as it gets: Democrats vote to address it and Republicans vote not to. There's a weird tic among the pundit class where they think saying "it's more complicated than that" is the intelligent stance on everything but sometimes it's not complicated!

Homeschooling is heavily entwined with the “parents rights” movement. They claim that it’s counter to “government overreach” but it’s largely a movement to maintain children as property.

Sexual victimization history is the best known predictor of a college woman’s grades and one of the best predictors of drop out. It’s also the best predictor of whether a woman who started a male-dominated major like STEM will be able to complete it.

Nearly 40% of survivors who report to their schools are pushed out in one way or another—usually, at the urging of school staff who want them to leave. (In comparison, less than 1% of perpetrators are suspended or expelled.)

One of the main reasons that the student loan crisis disproportionately affects women is because victims who can’t complete their educations still have the debt from it—even if they never get the degrees that unlock careers that can pay that debt back.

All of this is happening to college students at the very beginning of their adult lives. It shapes everything that comes after. And it shapes society for the rest of us too. Imagine what our world would look like if all of those women had been able to complete their educations, free from violence.
