Breaking: the Met Police has submitted charging files to the Crown Prosecution Service resulting from its Grenfell fire investigation. The files cover 54 individuals and 20 companies and cover charges including fraud, misconduct in public office and manslaughter

At 8.5mph buses in NY are now only slightly slower than in London where speeds are in decline. Bus priority measures are sadly not keeping up with, let alone beating, congestion. TfL Network Performance all buses: Q1 2024/2025 = 9.27mph Q1 2025/2026 = 9.16mph Q1 2026/2027 = 9.06mph

I see a lot of people complaining about the undoubtedly stressful conditions at present on London's roads. But I see few people complaining about motor vehicles. Yet in the last 24 hours three vulnerable road users have died after being hit by people driving motor vehicles.

A new entrance at King’s Cross St Pancras Underground station provides step-free access from the south side of Euston Road for the first time. Funded by developer Precis Advisory, the entrance includes a new lift and offers a more direct route for passengers requiring step-free access.

"Free city centre buses" is hard to beat as a sign to greet you off a train. Fantastic to see (and scheme with) old and new friends at Active Travel England's Making Active Places yesterday in Manchester.

This is really welcome. But agreeing the places to build toilets won't be easy. For the safety of bus drivers and passengers London local authorities should cooperate to make it happen. I hope they do, I expect some will not.

A reminder that transport is the largest producer of UK greenhouse gas emissions, and that fuel duty is currently the main leverage government has to get people to switch to EVs. Reducing fuel duty is not good policy.

So the LibDems are talking about a big cut in fuel duty. This would mark a big growth in subsidies to motorists which would benefit the wealthy the most. They drive the most and drive the least fuel efficient cars.

Love the dock to cover the cargo box. I have tried closed box shared cargo bikes, which preclude carrying many larger loads (including people/dogs) and open ones which can attract rubbish/debris. I hope someone adapts this design for a London scheme soon.

I snapped this photo on Earlham Grove in Forest Gate the other day. Before Newham Council introduced the Atherton LTN, this street was a heavily used rat run. Today, it’s safe enough for parents to cycle home with their children. Trading a driver's shortcut for safe, everyday school runs.

Got to cycle the new C55 arrangement today. Worked very well. Before, the narrow gate on the left is what everyone on foot and cycles had to share to get to Park Lane. Now, a lovely new stretch of two way cycle track through the gates. Better for everyone. Well done TRP & TFL @willnorman.co.uk

With over 870 school streets in London, 66% of kids are now getting to school by active travel. Every day there are 73,915 fewer cars doing the school run than when we started in 2016 - that’s the equivalent of a traffic jam from London to Newcastle.
