London Transport's Pennyfare Staff Magazine (Vol. 1, No. 6 - June 1934) clipping: The LT Board decided on new colour schemes: Red for Central Buses, Tramways, Underground, and Circle trains, and Green for Country Omnibuses and Coaches, marked "London Transport" & "Green Line".
Clipping from Pennyfare, Vol. 1, No. 6 - June 1934:

CHANGING THE NAME

It has been decided that the colour schemes for all vehicles operated by the Board are to be as follows:—

RED. — Central Omnibuses, Tramways, Underground and Circle trains, with the words "London Transport" on the sides;

GREEN. — Country Omnibuses and Coaches, with "London Transport" on the sides. As a distinctive marking Coaches are also to have the words "Green Line" set out in some conspicuous position.

Metropolitan Line trains operating north of Harrow are to remain as at present.

Where a change from the present colour is involved, the work will be carried out as the vehicles go through the shops for overhaul.
