……and Thatcher sold off huge numbers of council houses at discounted prices, but councils weren’t allowed to use all the proceeds to replace them. That helped create the social housing shortage we’re paying for today.

I remember the 1970s he is largely right about then. The UK was a mess. The economic growth in the 1980s was largely down to the bonanza of north sea oil receipts...the opportunities it offered were wasted with short term sugar rushes to the economy.. Thats her legacy

Americans following the Farage scandal in the UK should take a close look at this part of it bc 1) Thiel placed JD Vance, among others and 2) there were recent reports about a similar Masters of the Universe program at Stanford.

Who would have thought the Electoral Commission might be useless in a country where the water regulator has no problem with companies dumping sewage in rivers, the energy regulator rubber stamps every price increase, the press regulator is controlled by the press, and the EHRC is anti-human rights.

Doesn’t matter if the money didn’t change hands. Under section 1(1) of the Criminal Law Act 1977, an offence is committed when two or more people agree to pursue a course of conduct which, if carried out as intended, would involve committing a criminal offence.

My point is it's well established in law that if you attempt to do something, that in itself can be a crime. Otherwise there would be no such crime as attempted murder. Just because the murder might end up not happening doesn't mean no crime was committed.

It's been very illuminating for me to understand that amongst the donations to Reform, the funding of polling was to deliberately deliver a specific outcome. Which the pollsters did. Is this the case with all, most or a few polls and emphasises the need to have clear who ordered the poll.

Farage’s stupidest comment to date: “They got a couple of our contractors to say things that perhaps should not have been said. They have been removed this morning”. Contractors. That would be his long-serving aide and the person who devises Reform policy, very senior people. No way out.

In a world where media REALLY respected the freedom of the press, nobody - not the BBC, ITV or Sky, no newspapers, no online services would cover it at all. I mean, what would we be missing? Performative shrieking, and policies they couldn't implement. But that's not going to happen, is it?
