Scrapping the Future Homes Standard will deliver cost reductions for developers, but it’s hugely unlikely they’d be passed on to buyers and those buyers would be left with homes that cost thousands of pounds a year more to run.

It is particularly worth noting that Burnham, Ministers, Labour MPs are not being overly positive about being in Europe. They continue to sound like this is second best but might have to do. That combined with outright opposition on the right means Brussels is bound to be wary.

Free movement *does* benefit migrants by giving them more freedom/options, and improves labour market flexibility overall. These are good arguments for it, compared to a managed system, that I've made many times. Burnham's "it gives us Gastarbeiter" is both false and regressive.
