I think it's also worth noting that a lot of people who were abused and/or neglected by their parents find some measure of peace/comfort in the idea that their parents were doing their best with limited resources. If your parents were rich, that explanation doesn't work as well.

I knew AI-generated images were bad for environmental + plagiarism reasons, and I knew AI-generated CSAM was gross on top of that, but I hadn't thought of the way it would enable actual child traffickers to claim that their photos and videos were fake, or how it would incentivize killing victims.
