If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this. Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how. Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:

The thing I worry about is that the "knowing what to delegate to it safely" thing is a function of deep familiarity with the process that takes seniority and experience to develop, and I can see the potential of junior folks not developing that underlying knowledge--

We have a new message for Democrats: attack attack attack. Trump is corrupt, he’s butchered the economy, and his DOJ operates like mob lawyers. And every voter knows it. So stop looking backward. Stop with the endless focus groups. This isn't complicated. He’s weak. Finish him.

Obligatory note that "AI" has become toxic because people consider it synonymous with generative AI, when it's really about a broader category of machine learning. But this is a case where you absolutely cannot put this one back in the bottle: "AI" is forever tainted and that's just how it is.

Hopefully this will encourage the companies who have been doing interesting, cool, innovative, and really useful machine learning work for decades to stop trying to cash in on the AI hype by recasting all their products as "AI innovations" before the bubble pops.

Trump is a criminal, and a terrible human, and a narcissist, but the quality that is going to end up defining him is that he is extraordinarily stupid and doesn’t have even a thin grasp of the issues he’s meddling in. He’s like one of those inbred medieval kings who is incapacitated.

Claude Code's Source: 3,167-Line Function, Regex Sentiment
Anthropic claimed 100% of Claude Code is AI-written. A source leak exposed a 3,167-line function, regex sentiment analysis, and 250K wasted API calls daily

I met a guy a few months ago who owns a small consultancy specializing in IT emergencies. When things go horribly wrong & nobody on staff can fix it, he’s who you call. In the past year, he essentially has a bidding war for his services every week. This👇is effectively what he does now.

I agree 100% with Steven Vickers that authors will be falsely accused of using AI in the coming years. In particular, authors like myself whose works were stolen to train AI systems are at risk. When we write in our own unique styles, AI trained on us will quite likely flag us as using AI.
Author Steven Vickers wrote on Threads, "To confirm, this '100% AI generated' passage is the opening of Chapter 5 from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. I think authors are going to get screwed in these AI witch hunts."

Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command.
It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards.
Automated snapshots were gone too.
In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I changed so this doesn't happen again.
If you use Terraform (or let agents touch infra), this is a good story for you to read.
