Why does cancer come back after years of remission? @nature.com shares how researchers are uncovering what causes dormant tumor cells to reawaken. @judithagudo.bsky.social offered insights into why tumor cells may enter dormancy as a protective mechanism. Read more: bit.ly/4btv5Y6

Our researchers are using novel spatial tools to learn how immune cells affect cancer. “I don’t think we appreciated how much the spatial dynamics of the immune system matter,” says @judithagudo.bsky.social. Learn more about what researchers are learning from this technology: bit.ly/49uOtSg

Bone appetite: bone-derived factors feed distant immune suppression

Bone appetite: bone-derived factors feed distant immune suppression
The site of metastatic disease influences treatment response. A recent study in Cancer Cell by Cheng et al. revealed that bone metastases systemically impair immune function, abrogating immunotherapy response. Bone metastases led to osteopontin (OPN) production, which suppressed immunity in distal lesions. This highlights a novel cross-organ communication hindering antitumor immunity.

Funny that the $4B they want to save is the same amount SpaceX got last year in gov't contracts. That even paid the SpaceX CEO $4M! Rockets might be cool and all, but if choosing between rockets and life-saving medicine..You know, maybe the rich guy who wants to play with rockets should pay himself.
