Potentially dumb question, but did American kids in the '80s/'90s know abou axolotls? I feel I didn't know they existed until the '00s, but everyone I know under the age of 20 had at least one axolotl tee shirt as a kid. Of course, the odds this is just my memory beginning to fail are not zero.

Can't help but think this is tied to DOGE-driven 30 percent reduction in IRS staff! This is a story! Cutting the IRS is theatrics ("Booooo! IRS bad!") but the end result is more hassle and *more money lost* by average folks. (In addition to loss of auditing billionaires, of course.)
