Simultaneously fast enough to seem instantaneous and reliably hit where it was aimed, but slow enough to provide a sense of the direction of motion. 110
John Nesky @johnnesky.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I was going to bring up Metroid before I saw you mentioned it! It's not consistent, actually, at least not in Super Metroid. If your gun isn't pointed diagonally, then only your parallel velocity is added to the shots, not perpendicular. This helps for lining up shots while jumping, as in Mega Man. 100

This is a pretty standard trick to mitigate motion sickness for players that want to use smooth locomotion.
