Contemplating rewording this as "Load bodies into container" for brevity. Thoughts?
Load body textures into a dictionary
Now, we want to load and reference two different images ...

Life has taught me that you can always find multiple plausible explanations for any scenario. Pin the murder on anyone in a whodunit. Convince yourself of any reason why a job interview didn't go so well. Or, try to figure out what's intuitive and what's not in your game for an average person.

For the time being I decided not to post about my demo on Reddit. Of course I want to reach more people, especially non-developers! But right now I don’t want to risk dealing with the asshole attitude that place often offers. Maybe for the full game.

I find it rather bizarre to purposefully design your game around a very narrow FOV, and not figure out how to provide this basic accessibility option way earlier in the development. Narrow FOV can quite literally cause vertigo and vomiting. Is that the challenge that you envision for your game?
Experimental FOV setting
You can now adjust your field of view from 75 (default) up to 90 in Settings → Graphics.

Guns of Eschaton was designed and balanced around the default FOV: level layouts, encounters, enemy placement, and visuals all rely on it. Changing it affects many of these systems at once, so at higher values you will likely notice visual issues and changes to how the game plays, including difficulty.

We know how important FOV is to many of you, so we're giving you the option to try it now. Meanwhile, we're studying how it affects the experience.

This is a test, not a final feature: whether FOV options stay in the full game and in what form will depend on what we learn.

I'm impressed! Impressed by how boring and unfun they manage to present making video games while tooting "game of your dreams" in the subtitle. If that's what occupies your dreams, you might be burnt out or overstressed. Please do a check-up!

Hear me out: the Linkin Park: Unshatter documentary in a 4DX theatre! At first I didn't think they'd actually utilize the 4DX features, that it was just the hall given to the screening. But then the screening started with a whole demo of what 4DX is, and I almost flew out of my seat!
A photo of a large stand titled "Wall of Memories. Linkin Park: Unshatter", which invites bystanders to answer personal questions about the role of Linkin Park in their lives. Multiple hand-written notes cover it.

By my calculations I need about 100 different sound effects, and I have around half that. 🤔 Foley sounds make a world of difference for my skeuomorphic, diegetic game though. When the sound hits just right, these stupid pixels transcend into almost-real things!

I have an ongoing task at @gdquest.bsky.social: update every image and video in Learn 2D/3D courses, so that they are consistent and representative of the current state of the Godot editor. This kind of task involves a lot of moving parts, and I like straightforwardness. So I made the Kinographer:
A close-up screen capture of a floating blue toolbar with various labeled sets of buttons and indicators. It has sections called "Capture", "Image", "Video", as well as "Target", "Build", "Server", and "Docker". There are also extra buttons on the right of the toolbar, for closing and moving it around. The version label says "v1.2.0".

I really like how semi-transparent pieces look in my puzzle game. It's all just a color/shader effect on top of an opaque sprite, and yet in practice it just looks so dimensional! #gamedev #indiedev
A screenshot of a skeuomorphic 2D game featuring a sandy yellow panel with a large dark gray area on the left and a column of small dark areas on the right, with "BACK" and "FRONT" written around the latter. In the large dark gray area there are rows of colorful objects, arranged as blue, pink, white, white, pink, and blue again. Parts of the objects look somewhat translucent and pale.

One interesting side-effect of not hanging out here for 3 months is that I've forgotten names and faces of everyone I didn't like (while remembering every name and face of people I did like). Apparently grudges and beefs are temporary if you step away from the computer every now and then!

The dilemma of recreation. After a few days of not touching any of my work I feel the urge to start doing things again. A part of me wants to capitalize on this boost of motivation, while another feels like I’m cheating myself out of the rest. Ugh, I miss being younger when the energy was infinite.

What would be the implication here, given this is a license for fonts? Rasterize every possible size and store it as images on export? Does converting to MSDF data count as enough obfuscation? Because I don't think it's possible to fully prevent resource extraction from games.
An extract of provisions from some document with the provision (c.i.) and portions of the provision (d.) highlighted in yellow. They read:

c. You may use the Product in digital documents and software applications provided that:
i. The Product is protected from extraction by the end user so that they may not access the Product on its own outside of your application.
ii. Your digital document or application is not designed to serve the same function as the Product, i.e. the document must not allow end-users to use glyphs from the Product for use in their own designs.
d. You may use the product in graphics, videos, video games, broadcasts and other visual media as long as they meet the criteria defined above for digital documents and software applications.

Why does the copyright on Google Maps say that imagery is from 2026 when it's not even from this decade sometimes? Does it mean that Maxar provides them old pictures anew, so the copyright year is just the last data fetch?

I wanna sub-post and push back against this so much. No law or policy is truly enforceable. The MIT license isn't truly enforceable. What you do is you codify your morals and then enforce that to the best of your ability. Mistakes will happen, you'll fix, improve, apologize. This is just silly.
Ultimately a moral policy is unenforceable, and wouldn't make anything better.

On the subject of The Discourse, it does seem like a very minor change to wording around the same principles as before. I don't think that any of the already merged PRs would've been rejected under these changes either, which makes the whole thing moot. Would love to see that introspection though.
