i love this weird, complicated, 1,500 word story by Sacha F. Lees ! the narrator claims to be a 65-year-old man inhabiting the body of a woman. he claims that she is suicidal & wants to kill both of them. reminds me of a brian evenson story ! read it ! xraylitmag.com/angelshell-b...

It all started on this day. Thank you for a wonderful twenty years.
Text in the center reads: 20 Years Oct. 2006 - Oct. 2026, clarkesworldmagazine.com

(right) Cover art for issue 241 by Marcel Deneuve is "Labyrinths of Azarax" and features a blue and white mechanical eye in a circular opening looking at a small, white, glowing humanoid figure standing on a large pipe in the tunnel. Many pipes line the walls, all heading out to the main room. Pipes are yellow and gray. Room beyond is blue.

(left) Cover art for issue 1 by Tomasz Pietrzyk is "The Town of the Towers" and features a surreal town of yellowy white distorted towers with reddish orange roofs that overhang the towers and rise to a point. Mishapen dark windows and doors are scattered about on the buildings. Orange sky gives the entire piece a warm tone.

Joyce Carol Oates is a legit national treasure. And she's 88 years old. She's earned the right to her literary opinions, even when she's wrong. We're never going to change her mind, and she's never going to change ours. Everybody chill. #DidYouNeverHaveaGrandmother

It's too depressing and obnoxious to write about, but virtually all of the doomy/horny AI hyperventilating is transparently displaced anxiety about our fucked climate and political situation. Even rich idiots know it's bad and being permitted to get worse. They're trying to write their own ending.

Usually reporters get leaks FROM the White House -- but at Fox News, a reporter appears to have leaked TO the White House. That's according to @oliverdarcy.bsky.social's explanation of the sudden Maria Bartiromo erasure by the Murdochs
Status has learned that Bartiromo's termination stems from an incident, which has not previously been reported, that occurred in July. After Trump delivered his unhinged prime time speech in which he pushed more conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, this time making a number of allegations against China, I am told that Fox News issued guidance to senior employees instructing them to steer clear of giving credence to Trump's delusional claims. I'm told that the guidance was issued in writing. Indeed, the day after Trump's prime time address, Fox News conspicuously avoided covering the debunked claims the president had pushed. The lack of coverage raised eyebrows among media observers at the time. It also appears to have caught the attention of the White House. It's unclear whether Trump or someone at the White House inquired with Bartiromo about the lack of coverage. But ultimately Bartiromo spilled the secret, Status has learned, divulging to the White House that Trump's speech had received scant coverage on the channel because network bosses had ordered it so. I'm even told the text message in which Fox News brass offered their guidance was shared by Bartiromo with the White House. In doing sO. Bartiromo not only effectively betrayed her employer, but also disclosed confidential company information, violating the terms of her employment agreement.

There was a time, 50 or 60 years ago, when you could save state-college tuition with a summer job. In-state tuition was 200 or 250 times the minimum hourly wage. Six weeks’ labor. Now it’s 12,000 to 15,000 times the hourly minimum wage. 7 or 8 months’ fulltime pay, before taxes, rent, or food.

And maybe one of the reasons the primary polling has been so unreliable is that the voters don’t see the “leftists” and “centrists” as so far apart. There may be a large pool of primary voter who’s happily support either candidate and whose ranking shifts back and forth.

Jim Marino @jamesjmarino.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
The whole “leftist vs moderate” framing is useless, because it’s all coming down to specific candidates and specific districts. Some places favor one or the other. Some campaigners are more talented than others. That makes lousy headlines, but it’s what is actually happening on the ground.
