When Trump calls for Iran to nuke Los Angeles and San Diego, and his crowd of MAGA faithful cheer in response, we witness the completion of a process of psychological transformation associated with totalitarianism. Urging physical harm to fellow citizens has become a test of fidelity to the Leader.

The most shocking part of Trump’s comments is what our reaction says about us
Listening to the president at a rally these days is a mix of deja vu and word salad, but his decade-long project of division remains abnormal and dangerous

Truly vile. At a public event, Mike Graham mocked Andy Burnham’s father for having Alzheimer’s, less than three weeks after Roy Burnham died and apparently on the day of his funeral. Just the lowest of the low.

The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy. It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.

"Chants of 'let them drown' sung by a child over a megaphone" surely must be the moment this UK Government realises that no form of appeasement or persuasion is going to solve this problem. Ban the platforms spreading the lies, proscribe the groups terrorising the country. Act now, for pity's sake.

I'm sure that legitimising "throw a tantrum, get what you want" as a method of political action will not in any way repeatedly bite the government on the arse anytime they need to do anything.

It's interesting that the Israeli government seems to have targeted the UK for a response. That shows the symbolic power of what Miliband has announced. Netanyahu and his fascist mates might pretend not to care but they clearly do - very deeply.

A large group of co-ordinated, masked men blockading a piece of significant infrastructure is a security threat and should be dealt with as one. There should also be serious questions about why police/intelligence services didn't pick up on it in advance.

This is one of those sobering moments for fans of polling. London's air quality has been measured and assessed very closely over the last decade, and we know for a fact that it has improved, yet, as with crime, public perception stands in stark contrast to reality. Voters are in fact often wrong.

This is bullshit. Ukraine attacked St Petersburg and Moscow with drones produced in Ukraine, by Fire Point. Most of their long range strikes against Russia are with homemade weapons. This is basic knowledge about the conflict, the lack of which disqualifies you from having an opinion about it!
He cites what happened a few weeks ago in St Petersburg. “With Nato weapons, Ukrainians bombed St Petersburg and they tried to bomb Moscow. So a country with nuclear weapons is being ‘bombed’ by the British. Not the British pushing the button, but the bombs come from Britain, as well as from Germany and France, with less from the US.”

Shut it down. Or if you genuinely think shutting down a Nazi, child abuse and misogyny site is a step too far, at least shut down all government and public service accounts on the platform, remove your own personal account, and tell your MPs you don't consider it a fit platform for them to use.
