New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, who tragically lost his 58-year-old mum and several family members to COVID-19 complications, continues advocating for vaccination. “I have asthma,” Towns said, highlighting his “high-risk status” while raising awareness of the non-mRNA NUVAXOVID vaccine.
A screenshot of a Forbes article titled "Karl-Anthony Towns Who Lost Mom To COVID-19 Talks Of Value Of Vaccine." The article is written by Bruce Y. Lee and shows a publication date from early October 2026. Below the headline, a photograph captures NBA player Karl-Anthony Towns sitting at a press conference microphone wearing a white New York Knicks jersey. He is looking forward with a serious expression against a blue backdrop covered in repeating logos for Chase and the New York Knicks. A caption below the photo identifies him as the Knicks center speaking at a recent Media Day.

I’ll also add that most of the heat should be directed at USA Today, but the journalists who participated in this breach of ethics also made a choice. Organizations are made up of people. We can’t absolve the people who do harm on the behalf of an organization.

The primary objective of journalism is supposed to be telling the truth. It is a DECISION on the part of USA Today to know that new details have emerged about this case and to refuse to update an old story that is still circulating and still shaming Jane Doe.

And, as I wrote over a year ago, this kind of ethnographical skull-measuring will always lead to outright racism and - in the attempt - utter absurdity. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle-co...
When, this week, the Telegraph printed a rabidly scaremongering report that “White British people will be a minority in 40 years”, they clarified this cohort as “the white British share of the population — defined as people who do not have an immigrant parent”.

Leaving aside how garbled that formulation is — there are millions of non-white Brits who meet that definition perfectly — it carried with it a parallel consequence. I myself do not have an immigrant parent.

In fact, every single pale and freckled ancestor of mine since 1800, Irish farmers to a soul, was born and raised in something called the United Kingdom. This is true for a large number of Irish people in the North. And since the late Prince Philip was himself a Greek immigrant, it gives me great pleasure to point out that they’d settled on a definition of ‘White British’ which includes Gerry Adams but excludes King Charles III.

It's particularly obvious when you try to port this worldview onto any national category which doesn't have an arbitrary, secondary catch-all. What would the Irish equivalent of this even mean? "You're not Irish, of course, but we'll let you call yourself Hibernian if you like"?

Aside from everything else, all this "non-whites can be British but not English" stuff is very obviously just...moving words around? It only sounds like a distinction because "English" just happens to have the more nebulous word "British" nearby, but both are very obviously racially neutral terms??

Rachel Johnson who was interviewing her didn't push back at all and even seemed to be agreeing with her. Here's a fuller account from the police. Absolutely scandalous that an MP is not condemning this act of terrorism
Detective Chief Superintendent James
Derham, who leads local policing in the
Bexley area, said: "It was miraculous
that nobody was killed or seriously
injured in the large explosion caused
by Rees

"He showed a complete disregard for
the welfare and safety of the people
who live in, or were travelling through,
the area at the time of the explosion -
all because he was unhappy with the
ULEZ scheme

"CCTV from a bus travelling down the
road at the time shows how it narrowly
missed the blast of debris by seconds

A man builds an IED. He sets it off in a busy public street. Shrapnel flies about hitting cars, homes and a child's bedroom. It's a miracle nobody is injured. And Reform MP Sarah Pochin calls his imprisonment "disproportionate" and "two tier justice."
It does raise this point of two-tiered
justice..

Reform's Sarah Pochin believes the
sentence handed to the 64-year-old who
blew up a ULEZ camera was
disproportionate'.
