recounting something that's completely insignificant on the surface but clearly means a lot to you really brings out how attuned (or not) different people are to you

already got a bunch of nostalgia hits from watching Boyhood (2014) then I realized I‘m the same age as the lead actor and it‘s been another twelve years since it came out

I don't actually want to pollute the commons, but it would be an interesting piece of performance art to test how benign a proposal from someone objectionable would still enrage people, and what sort of arguments for why it was really bad they'd come up with

two long and pretty productive days but what I feel best about is helping someone carry their stuff down the stairs when a (false) fire alarm went off at the hotel yesterday and taking a sec to text the guy whose package mistakenly ended up at my building this morning

one of the things that infuriates my particular brand of laziness is how much glue and boilerplate everything needs, to the point where it annoys me to even see an agent doing it for me

I regularly get confused by how easy travel is, I‘ll throw some stuff into a bag and start my day taking a train or plane to another country instead of the tram to the office, and some part of me goes „wait I feel like this should have required some more preparation“

as a kid I once dragged my dad through the city wanting to see a specific fountain I only vaguely remembered, always going "no not that!! 😡", eventually throwing a massive tantrum as he calmly smoked a cigarette while two old ladies chastised him for not hitting me to shut me up

people act like everyone's a hater, but IME in real life most people react far more positively to a mediocre but genuine attempt at something than to you judging others for not being perfect

I feel like I always sorta considered my ages 4-12, 12-18, 18-25, 25-30 completely separate lives and different people, then at some point around 30 I turned around and started realizing wait, that’s the same guy!

Never change, Switzerland, never change. 😂 www.nzz.ch/meinung/schw...
Translation: On November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall fell, triggering a domino effect of world-historical proportions. The path to German unity was suddenly clear, and the Soviet empire collapsed. The following day, the Swiss Foreign Ministry was bombarded with inquiries as to how the Federal Council assessed the caesura in Berlin. The FDFA then issued a communiqué: "It is impossible for Federal Councillor Felber to comment on all political events to journalists. After all, something important happens almost every day."

never thought about this before, but makes total sense: when industry started to become electrified, every machine getting its own motors with electricity used for within-factory power transmission was not entirely obvious or immediate
