My ELA teacher mom ❤️ is so happy. I handed my middle school-aged daughter the copy of Age of Innocence that I "borrowed" from my older sister when I was 16--a beautiful cloth bound copy with cotton soft pages--and she loves this novel. 💕💘📚

Does anyone else remember how when you brought a class to the computer lab to type an essay, you had to check the keyboards to make sure the high schoolers hadn't switched the keys around on the keyboards? High school hijinks from the past! 🍎 #edusky #iteachenglish #iteachsocialstudies

#iteachsocialstudies There are a lot of blended history/English classes, and I co-planned and English/Math class, but a history/science course would be an amazing senior elective. I'd do a whole unit on astronomy. What about you?

A good test of this (for classroom teachers) is if at the beginning of the school year, you feel how little the students know how to do compared to the students you had in the spring. You should notice how much more you have to guide and scaffold in the fall than in the spring.

@mattseybold.bsky.social was kind enough to share some ideas for my HS curriculum, among them this fascinating account of the Twain/Douglass relationship. My kids will definitely be interested—we did a Douglass deep dive last year. And this reads like a sort of historical sleuthing piece.

As a mom of two (almost 3) teenage boys, I wanted to pick a book that gives voice to the emotional inner life of a boy. This is a huge book (400+ pgs), and there are points where the deaths feel excessive, but it's about the sometimes *too much* of being a teen. The women are pretty absent, fwiw.
