It is clear that people are using AI to review papers and grants. Often as a tool, not as an off the bottle answer for review (though some do). One of the signs of this is the detail of the negative comments and the errors, often minor and irrelevant to the conclusions. 🧵

As global warming continues, everyone is going to feel its effects, even tiny insect embryos. In this #FluorescenceFriday post, I want to show you what an early fly embryo (Drosophila melanogaster) looks like at an elevated temperature, only 4ºC above the culture temperature. (Details in the 🧵) 1/4
Asynchronous nuclear divisions at an elevated temperature of 29°C in the syncytial Drosophila melanogaster embryo. Nuclei (top panel) and microtubule spindles (bottom panel) in different phases of the nuclear division cycle, visualized using RFP-tagged Histone variant H2Av and GFP-tagged Jupiter, a microtubule-binding protein. Colors indicate distance from the embryo surface; green, 2 µm; cyan, 4 µm; blue, 6 µm; magenta, 8 µm; and red, 10 µm. Imaged on a Zeiss LSM 700 inverted confocal microscope, 63x/1.2 NA water objective; panel size, 203.23x56.73 µm.
