They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

I still find it astonishing that Sir Ian Livingstone is the only person knighted for services to the UK games industry. Film, TV and sport are constantly recognised with knighthoods, yet one of Britain's biggest creative industries has had just one.

He knows how to win. He knows how to fight.
And he knows how to message.
And no one will out work him. Regardless of whether he wins the Democratic nomination in 2028 he will make an impact on the race. You can be sure of that. Don't take your eyes off of him. At the minimum, learn from him.

The gun on the zeos back are smoking from recent use.A multiarmed argricultural zeo, with canisters on it's back, sprays some plants - in the background several towers loom, wires from the top are tethered to a floating ring of canisters that hangs in the sky. in the background is a mountain range.A rakke Zeo battles agaisnt a mob of AP Drones, thir handler watches from atop a nearby building. What began two decades ago as friends filming melons rolling down a cobblestone bridge in Xalapa, Mexico, has evolved into an annual festival drawing hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators for melon races and a “most handsome melon” competition. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/19/w...

The Most Handsome Melon in Mexico? Yes, It’s a Real Contest.
In the eastern city of Xalapa, what started as a joke among friends over two decades ago has become a vibrant annual tradition that highlights creativity and absurdity with melons.

It really doesn't make sense to attribute those job losses to AI-the-technology, because if that were the case we'd be observing AI outputs displacing conventional entertainment products, and they're clearly not. Rather, the impact of AI is that AI-the-business is crowding out other investment.

Oh, this is a great opportunity to share some history!! The state of Hawai‘i has this flag because this was the flag of the sovereign Kingdom of Hawai‘i (1795-1893). This flag survived the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893, and its subsequent annexation to the U.S.
The flag of Hawai‘i with a Union Jack in the left corner, and right alternating stripes of white, red and blue. Each stripe represents the eight major Hawaiian islands of Hawai’i, Maui, Kaho‘olawe, Lāna‘i, Moloka’i, O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, and Ni‘ihau.

Condemnation is pure hot air if in the next breath you’re telling everyone you’re doing your best to give the fascists what they want, just without the masks
In fact, these are scenes we have not seen on British streets. Immigration needs to be deal with, I will be the first to say that and we are dealing with it. The boat crossings have been halved since six years ago, net migration is down massively.

Liar. Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022. In current year they are 18,565 and falling. Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.
It's a disaster, and it can all be traced to
Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate
from the people. He has no real ideas, and
no plan,
