I remember one of these "secret life of cats" type programmes showed how in neighbourhoods where there are too many cats for them all to have territory, they fudge a sort of compromise where individual cats patrol the territory at different times and all act like it's theirs.

The newspapers now are essentially gaming apps with an op-ed page attached that occasionally calls powerful people to ask what’s going on and reports what they say as news. Journalism as we think of it does not exist, at least at the national level. And the local papers are dying by the day.

It’s so condescending as well because I’m from a working-class background and certainly my parents and grandparents aren’t/weren’t ever disdainful of education. Neither were most people in the mining communities both sides of my family are from. Very much the opposite in fact.
