While long-term funding is key to the National Cycle Network's success, £104m over four years is £26m a year... the equivalent of upgrading a single A-road junction. CWIS3, the government's four-year strategy mentioned '7,000 additional or improved [NCN] miles by 2030'...so £14,857 per mile?

I think it's absolutely mad that today there's a *national news story* about 400 oil platform workers losing their jobs, and the government being blamed. 25% of the UK TV industry lost their jobs in the last 4 years and we never hear a peep about it! Some jobs are 'real jobs' I guess.

Sep 1968: Swing Top Waste Bin ad from Judge «Our bin's a real Swinger. No wonder it gets around.»
This advertisement promotes a swing-top waste bin suitable for use in kitchens, garages, bathrooms, offices, factories, and schools. It emphasizes the bin's capacity, ease of cleaning, and durability, as well as its range of color options.

Our bin's a real Swinger. No wonder it gets around.

You'll find our Swing Top Waste Bins in the kitchen; the garage; the bathroom; in offices; factories and schools. They've got that nice habit of being around just
when and where they're
needed.
Just about
everyone has a
use for this big,
big bin with
the enormous
(full width of
container) lid.
It opens so
wide, it's simple to
shove in any
amount of rubbish;
or dirty clothes; or
garden refuse.
And the lid
swings back into
position every time.
Emptying couldn't be simpler.
The lid simply unsnips. Talk about
easy access. Judge Swing Top makes
it downright simple. It literally
cleans with a wipe. And it looks so
good. Plastic-no rust-in a choice
of colours. Capacity?-a full 10
gallons. Yet takes up less
than a square foot of
floor space.
Only 39/11.
Which
makes
pretty well
every other
bin look sick.
We know
rubbish bins
aren't something
you think about
every day. But
why not make to-
day an exception?
Available at all leading stores and ironmongers
