ACCOUNTING FOR ABSENCE: EXHIBITING THE MANORIAL RECORDS OF RAVENSER ODD | Archives: The Journal of the British Records Association
Ravenser Odd was an island at the mouth of the Humber estuary between the 1230s and 1350s. During its brief, dramatic, life it became a Royal Borough, with the result that many of its records have been preserved centrally. Ravenser Odd’s manorial ...

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

Thread on Dan Boultwood's victim who waives her anomity to talk about the experience. For those who didn't see the original reporting, this is the only significant coverage. Maddie says how she's disappointed there wasn't more public introspection and conversation over this, and she's right.

If anyone is struggling to understand how our media and politicians are still talking about an RAF Fairford "bomb plot" when there were no bombs found, then the Forest Gate raid in 2006 is a useful comparison en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_...
Photo taken by Netpol's campaigns coordinator in 2006 of the end of Lansdown Rd in Forest Gate, closed by police after a "bomb plot" terrorism raid led to the sealing off of the area for a week. One man was shot but fortunately survived – there was no bomb factory, yet the Kahar family were smeared by the media for weeks

It’s not explicitly on the list of things I can take to my local reuse and recycling centre (Jenkins Lane). Will the RRC take it anyway? Or someone else?

while the British Academy is using partial randomisation on its small grants -- and awarding more women/and POC researchers than ever before -- UKRI is feeding your painstakingly-developed proposal into an AI. But it's okay because they then get *two* AIs to debate whether you get the money.
