How do funny people become funny because my 6yos are trying to come up with their own knock knock jokes and I’ve determined it’s not genetic.

E.T. almost dying was extremely terrifying to me. The men in lab coats! The sheets of plastic! Hard no, I would not rewatch this movie until the last five years.

The existence of the Popemobile in the CARS cinematic universe means that at some point, one of those cute-as vehicles tried to assassinate the Pope, which is kind of fucked up when you think about it

The most absolutely massive flex from the state fair exhibit. This quilt is made of 40 years of prize ribbons from various categories at the New Mexico State Fair won by Carol St. Clair Johnson. She also won a prize for this quilt.

satin ribbons

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.

This girl I used to waitress with in Austin, we moved to New York together in 2003 on a literal Greyhound bus. Shared a fifth floor walk-up studio that, when it rained, had more leaks in the ceiling than we had pots and pans. We used to get drunk and smoke off the fire escape and do “sad-offs.”

By not having shelves in the middle of the store they can’t have as many books and selling books is how you make rent and pay publishers and make payroll! People who write business books will demand larger events than they can hold in a basement! Blergh

On August 12, 1960, Dr. Seuss published what would become his biggest-selling book of all time. Written as the result of a $50 bet between Seuss and his publisher at Random House, Bennett Cerf, the book, by some estimates, has sold north of 200 million copies. The book? Green Eggs and Ham. /1
